Royal purple fluids and the ZL1

I am about to change the oil for the 1st time I believe (32% on the oil life monitor) on my 2019 M6 ZL1 with 4k miles. Car was bought used. I will be using the factory fill 0w-40 Mobile 1 ESP with the PF-64 filter.

My question is about the gear oil and tranny fluid. Anyone using RP for diff and tranny fluid? Does this induce the gear groan I have read about or is it hit or miss?

I prefer RP fluids over any others from my personal experience and the RP company is a stones throw from my house and I like to support the local economy when I can.

Comments?

I just changed my diff fluid at 1500 miles, I used the GM factory fluid, not a fan of RP no real proven data saying its better than the factory stuff. but if you sleep better using it, tear yer ass.

Do not try to out think the engineers at GM. Use the factory gear oil. You will gain nothing whatsoever with RP.

Factory fill here as well. My car sees very hard track usage.

I've only used factory GM fluid for my rear axle and trans.

The transmission is the one area the other fluid companies excel. RP Syncromesh is a way better fluid for the M6 transmission. I had all sorts of issues with the OEM fluid, especially when cold. RP eliminated all of those issues.

It's actually Syncromax, +2 for the RP Syncromax for the M6 and this for the rear end, you'll need 2 -> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Syncromax, get the case it's cheaper than buying singles. -> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

A pump to get it in there. ->https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

PSA:

So I emailed TREMEC and asked them the proper fill instructions on the TR 6060 tranny and here is the response:

"Hello and thank you for contacting Tremec.

Your trans will take approx 3.84 liters you’ll need to buy 4qts you will use just under 4. Add fluid until it comes out of the side plug and then cap it."

So looks like the GM instructions for refilling to 1/8th inch below the plug is garbage.
