Is there anyway to alter or modify the NPP functionality other than a HP Tune?
I would like to modify or tune how the factory NPP functionality works. More specifically tune Track Mode so the valves stay open 100% of the time except in 6th gear (i would leave as factory defaults).
My car isn't modified enough to justify getting a HP Tune which I know can tune and alter how and when the valves open and close in each drive mode at what rpm. So I'm looking for alternatives. Can the dealer do it? Is there any other systems than can do it? For those who don't know, No, when the car is in track mode the valves are not open all the time. They are closed below 2,500rpm in gears 2 and 3 and closed below 2,000 in gears 4, 5 and 6 (at least this is how it is in a 2018 ss 1le). I would like to modify track mode so the valves never close, except in 6th gear. The only way I know how to do this, is with the HP Tuner software. I also do not want to pull fuse 52 and disable the NPP functionality as I have a Corsa NPP catback and need the use of stealth mode on occasion. Thanks. Out of curiosity, why do you not want the valves open except in 6th gear? I have my all my modes set up in track. The only time I close them is when I put it in stealth coming home not to annoy my neighbors.

I imagine an enterprising individual with Raspberry Pi skills could build one to read the gear position and RPM from OBD2 data, and control the valves directly. Don't recall ever seeing one, however.

I look forward to the reply. I don't get it at all. But maybe I'm not thinking outside the box. LOL.

Looks like these folks have already done the "hard part": https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials...ith-obd-ii/all
The "easy part" will be to then program the logic table and wire up a relay. Might be cheaper than going with HPT. Might not. |

I would think the dealer would not want to get involved with that. You'll have to modify the parameters of the NPP programming which I haven't heard of anyone ever doing, not to say it hasn't been done obviously.

Options:
#1 HPTuners, tune the CCM and have them work any way you want #2 Get a M2W switch which basically puts the NPP valve fuse on a remote switch that you can open and close whenever you want. But it won't have the option to stay open in some gears and then close in others. There is no other way.

I do it often with HPTuners. They define the CCM for most Corvettes and Camaros already.

If OP has a (pre-refresh) 2018, which is likely based on his post, these tables are in the FSCM. I'd also use HP Tuners, it's a one-off cost that unlocks a wide range of tuning possibilites in addition to NPP changes.

If anything you’ll need a specialty shop/private mechanic to do it. Dealers only have the capability, training, and authorization to load OEM factory software settings.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Looks like my options are limited unfortunately. Although I'm not surprised.
Does anyone know the ballpark price it might cost just to get a HP Tune to be able to do this? Don't get me wrong wrong, I'd love to dyno tune it at the same time. But the car is barely modified. Do at this point just getting the license to modify the valves is all I'd be looking for. |

6th gear already closes the flaps when you're below 2,000 (or 2,500rpm, I can't quite remember) I would simply leave this as factory defaults. It's nice cruising on the highway with less noise. I mean, if you're in 6th, you aren't giving it the beans. |

The valves aren’t the sole issue. You can have them wide open and modify the exhaust but once AFM kicks in the car goes quiet again.
I pulled the fuse and got MBRP. Sounds awesome when the car is in V8 mode but goes quiet in V4. I got the Range technology device to disable AFM. Now it’s loud all the time. |

Sport mode is Mode2 Its pretty well done from factory. IMO having the valves closed at low/mid RPM and partial throttle gives you a little more torque. I don't have a dyno chart to prove it but my butt dyno feels it. 6th gear under 50% Throttle and 2000rpm, seems more like a highway cruise than anything else. No need to have the valves open. 7-10 will always have them open at 100% throttle. But you will never use those gears while racing. Any gear over 4500rpm is always open. |
