Dimmer switch not dimming screen or gauges

Hey guys
My '22 SS stopped auto dimming the radio and gauges when it gets dark outside.
The dimmer switch doesn't change the radio or the gauges and it's extremely bright at night.
I changed it both to Night and to Auto in the settings, and the dimmer switch on the left side of the gauges lower and brightens the button control lights but not the other things.
I've tried it with the lights manually turned on, and in Auto mode, I tried Day, Night, and Auto under settings, and no matter what I do it doesn't respond to the dimmer switch, nor does it dim at night.

It used to work perfectly fine a couple of days ago, it suddenly stopped doing it all of a sudden and has stayed stuck like that.

I tried factory resetting the car, I tried to update the software (there were no updates available), and I have tried disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes. Nothing has worked so far.

Any tips are welcome. Thank you!

Just a tip, but your daylight (sun load) sensor may have gone bad and the car thinks it's always midday. It's part #8 in this diagram: https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/v-2023...r-and-switches

Thank you, is there a way to check if that's the case? And do you know if it has a fuse perhaps?

Same sensor runs your automatic headlights so if they are working properly its probably not that. Anyway, going into any darkened area (parking garage) during the day should trip it for a test.

My automatic headlights are working fine, its just the gauge cluster and radio screen dimming not working. Buttons are dimmed and responding to the dimmer switch but the radio and gauges don't.

It's dark outside right now, and still it isnt working

Okay, it isn't the sun sensor then.

Your car actually has a killer feature now, I'd love to get rid of the ridiculous automatic switching between day/night modes for the cluster and the infotainment. Every time I drive in the mountains in the morning or afternoon, the car switches back and forth every 30 seconds because the trees cast a shade. I'd be happy with a daytime-only mode, or better yet, a setting to configure sensitivity and to toggle modes, or even better yet, a physical switch.

OP, sorry, I don't know what can be your problem. If this was my car, I'd start with the usual OBD-II error code checking followed by battery testing, checking wiring harnesses and asking a dealership if there are software updates for my car, but in all honesty I have no clue.

"It's a feature, not a bug." Typical, coming from a Software Guy!

Chief, Chief, you're cheeky as ever ...but seriously, this is an annoyance that would be sooo very easy to solve if only someone at GM cared. But enough of my thread hijacking (for today ).

I also checked and the headlights seem to always be on - even when its bright outside. I think the car has some fault and defaults to headlights on, and instrument panel/radio on full brightness for safety.

Chief, you seem to not have appreciation for the ingenuity and foresight of Software Engineers. A bug is a bug only in the eyes of the beholder. LOL

To the OP, your car is new, make the dealer fix it. That's what the warranty is for.

Then it probably IS your sun sensor, it can't "see" light so it's defaulted to everything on/bright.
