I'll tell you what when you start customizing and doing your own work to your own car and making it yours you can come and talk to me about my car and what I've chosen to do to it. Being a car enthusiast is about a relationship with you and your machine as well as respecting someone else's relationship with their machine. This may be a lesson you might learn if you start doing some customization to it yourself rather than just asking a bunch of questions and running around in circles. You may think this is harsh or I'm slamming you when in all reality I'm not. Take a look at all of the other replies and you might get a look at what real car people are and what it means to be a part of a community.

Sorry, but he was right you know. Dealer didn't screw up OP's car, OP did when he put those doors on.

Yeah I think if u put doors on that you can’t open normally, you can’t go to the dealer, valet park, etc. def a tough deal for a daily

I refuse to ever valet any of my vehicles. But taking it to a dealer shouldn't be an issue. Especially since he put a sign on the door that told them exactly how to open it. Im still trying to figure out what went wrong. I don't see how that could have been done but I have no experience in this. Is it possible to bend the fenders just by opening the door improperly?

Not sure, it does look like they lifted with the wrong points but Chevy dealers should be up to speed on this by now. But being how customized this car is does he have the ZL1 lift points? That would be a bad mod to pass on. Cheap insurance

So lambo doors or not, does lifting it from the wrong lift points bend the fenders anyway? Wouldn't that effect how the stock door is as well?

To each, his own, I say. Your car, your choices in mods. Period. The dealer should compensate you for any damage, which leads to my question:

Please pardon my ignorance, as I ask simplistic questions.

What was actually damaged?

Was it the doors and possibly the hinges?

If the car was lifted from the wrong points, does this mean the chassis got bent, or what?

WHY ALL THE HATE? Jebus, I have not seen this much hate since I was on the Corvette forums. ALOT of purists on there. God forbid anyone wants to break out from the crowd and be a little different or do something to their car THEY like. Its NOT YOUR CAR, its theirs. Get over it. If they wanted to take it to a demolition derby its their choice. I have seen some crazy stuff on the forum and from time to time I may post about how I wouldn't do it but with the understanding its their vehicle so they are going to do it if they want. The point is the dealer messed stuff up. Be mindful of any shop as any shop can screw anything up. You never know when they are going to put that 17 year old kid under your hood to fix something.

Amen! I have always liked lambo doors and showed my girl a pic of some on a Camaro and she was like "YES, DO THAT ASAP" so thats all I care about. Haters going to hate. Its not like you somehow ruined the car. Its just the doors. It doesnt change performance in any way and 99% of the time nobody will ever even know.

It really does suck that the shop messed something up but im still trying to figure out what was messed up and if the doors have anything to do with it. Cause if the car was lifted incorrectly wouldnt that still do this same thing regardless of the type of doors? Or am I missing something?

We have found the issue.

Vertical doors Inc in Lake Elsinore is the shit. They are the best hinges and I actually had them installed him as well. they had a cancellation this morning and called me so I was able to get over here and get it in. Once I started looking at everything we are 100% sure that they lifted the car wrong with the lifts. Either they missed the scene or their lift arm was thicker than the pad and they basically lifted it off of the corners of my fenders rather than the frame which bent the fender bottoms out causing the doors to become misaligned and Ashley slid the hinges on the bolts. Vdi is going to align it as best they can and I'm going to take it back to the dealer and start hassling with them.

Thank you to all who gave positive input and actually care. Even though there were a few negative comments here let me tell you it was nothing compared to Facebook. I shared my story with a couple of my 6th gen groups and from there was pretty much massacred in every comment. It was to the point that I actually wrote an epitaph expressing how disappointed I was in users as a human race and how they treated other people rather than just calling them and douche and moving on. I even had one guy who wouldn't leave it alone and just kept at me all night and this morning to the point that he was telling me that to come out to North Carolina and see him. I thought this was hilarious cuz the whole time I'm telling him he wouldn't be so brave he was standing in front of me. It's just so funny how the internet has become so easy to hide behind to the point that you lose your humanity. This is what I wrote and I felt I got my point across:
Wow, thanks so much for all of your demoralizing opinions. Just so all know these are Vertical Doors Imc hinges, best made out there. I (like most people) always wanted them. I got them from a forum user and had VDI install them. I have had them almost 2 years now with 0 issues. That said, I wouldn't do them again for this reason. You have to hawk them so a goob doesn't screw them up. Secondly, yes it's a V6. I got it for $20k with 6k miles on it. It has 3.27 gears, Trifecta tune, Borla Type S 4 tip exhaust, JMS Throttle Controller, along with other personalized details that make me happy to drive it. It's paid off, I do 90-120 in sport mode just about everywhere I go and I get 20mpg. I don't find many that can keep up with it and it's a daily driver.
I find it funny and sad how the internet has made people so heartless and uncaring twords other people. Does it make you feel good to try and be the one with the meanest remark, or do you just need to others down to make yourself feel more important? I have been into cars and customization since I was 15. I appreciate fellow car lovers and what style they brought to make their car theirs, even if it isn't my taste. I believe I am a dying breed. Lost to a buy and go generation that so quickly turns up their nose at everything else while they drive their stock SS, or paid to have everything done to it instead of getting your hands dirty and finding out what a real relationship with your car is about.
I know most probably won't even read this whole reply because you just can't wait to say something nasty or try to make yourself feel important; but maybe take a second and think if this was you. Maybe not Lambo doors, maybe they tore your spoiler or splitter off, tore your seat fabric, or dented it. As your pissed, mad, sad, and looking at how to pay for it to then get them to cover you share with fellow Camaro owners to not feel so alone at the moment and maybe get some advice from someone who had something similar happen. In that moment of being with friends (you think) you get jumped, insulted, and made fun of. You don't know me and I don't know you so wtf is your problem? I can tell you, at 48, I have done more and experienced more then most of you ever will. I don't need to beat my chest or put others down to know who I am and what in life makes me happy. Cars make me happy, helping others and being compassionate keeps me reminded who I am. It is my hope those of you that replied so negatively learn the value of these lessons in this lifetime, the rewards are far greater then then fleeting instant gratification of being the biggest douche who replied.

All my best wishes

I hope the dealership saw the problem before you left. Since you brought it back to VDI and they also put it on a lift (I'm assuming?!?), dealership MAY try to pass the fault onto them. Good luck. I would definitely invest in the ZL1 add-on jack pads if you haven't already. I have a set sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. SO easy to damage these cars jacking them up IMO.
