As GONIF said, CAI is another high quality option that shouldn't be ignored. The differentiating feature on the CAI is it's clear lid that completely separates it from the hot engine bay, and it also looks great. Another great option would be the GM Z28 intake. It looks beefy as heck and performs great, and of course has factory perfect fitment since it's technically an OEM part. I think the Z28 intake would be what I would likely switch to if I ever decided to leave Vararam (unlikely). The main downside to the Z28 intake is it's price. I have seen as low as $470 (Tick Performance) and as high as $569, so it is rather pricey compared to every other brand.

I made the same rwhp with a Spectre cold air intake as I did with the OTR Vararam on the Dynojet. Doesn't make it as good at the track.

Thanks all your feedback. I was leaning toward Vararam and haven’t been convinced of a different choice, yet.

Went from a CAI to the DRX and the butt dyno says it has a little more punch. And design wise you get a better wiper fluid reservoir location

I had a K&N and then went to the new Vararam DRX. The dyno showed no real difference between the 2 but on the highway after changing to the vararam it is just plain faster. The vararam directs air better imo and at highway speeds it is evident. Your not moving through the air at 80-120mph on the dyno.I don't know the 1/4 mile difference but I would bet half to a tenth in the 1/4, nothing drastic but enough that you will notice the difference at higher speeds 65mph+ over a standard CAI. But if you ever plan on going supercharged all the tuners say Rotofab.

Yeah, I can imagine that the older Vararam OTR would be hard to test on the dyno for effective results since it's benefits are much more evident when the vehicle is moving for that ram air effect.
Very interesting what Bo had to say about the Spectre vs Vararam. If you really think about it, the gains/losses between all of these intakes are likely so small that they are probably within the margin of error of each other on the dyno.

Here's a couple time slips from my last two trips to the dragstrip. The only changes was going to the DRX from an Arraid intake and some tuning.

.3 tenths from an intake swap? Not bad at all.

I'd venture to say it hooked better based on 60' and 330'. MPH is still 111 both outings, indicating HP is roughly the same, right?

Yeah there's a lot if variables, I have a bad habit of letting off before the actual finish line i think that affected my trap speed. MPH in the 1/8th increased so I should have trapped higher i think.

DRX is the only one I've tried, happy with it.
