But here are photos of the new reverse lights in action.

They are intensely bright and pure white.
I cannot comfortably look into them and as you can see they completely max out the camera's contrast range.
And this is in broad daylight (no flash was used).

The brake lights are on.
Even as bright as they are you can see that the new reverse lights are much brighter.
@Diyguy- Looks great! You’ve definitely convinced me to do the same. Thanks

Not at all, it works just fine.
The backup camera has a very wide range of brightness capability as evidenced by it working in daylight as well as in low light, so it doesn't care.
I wanted bright lights for myself, not for the camera.
So when I look out the side windows and mirrors in addition to the camera display I can see things better.
With the original light bulbs it was not very bright off the sides of the car.
Also, when you get off-axis it is not as bright as the photos show, so it is not glaring from every angle.
This is like the brake lights which are very bright to drivers directly behind and not so much to the sides.
It's all good...

, thanks for the additional detail. It's your car, brother, and impossible to tell exactly what's what based on pictures anyway

N.P.
Even this time of year (when we return to normal work conditions of course) it is pitch dark when I back out of the driveway in the mornings and we have a long driveway.
With the original bulbs it was almost pointless to look out the windows or in the mirrors because there just wasn't enough light.
This could be rather scary at times.
Our Cruze on the other hand has lots of reversing light due to its tail light lens placements and design.

I tried the new setup late last night and the LEDs are not excessively bright at all.
The particular ones I used are advertised at 1200 lumens each (I cannot measure that though).
That would be approximately the same as 75-100 watt incandescent bulbs.
As reference I couldn't (and shouldn't) stare into lit 100 watt regular bulbs either, even in broad daylight.

I replaced my back up lights with LEDs (with resistors to eliminate the glow) last year and loved them, until I found my battery was being slowly discharged by a parasitic drain. After about a week of sitting the voltage would be down to single digits. I switched the OEM lights back in and haven't had a problem since. Let us know if you find (or don't find) a problem.

Yes thanks, I was aware of that issue and that is why I used the resistor harnesses I used.
They have 6 ohm (50 watt) resistors which are much lower than the ones I have seen others use (in the 100-2200 ohm range).
I researched it carefully and read lots of reviews before ordering the LEDs or the harnesses.
But time will tell.
I'll keep an eye on it to see what happens and post again later.

I have a pretty good idea of what is normal "parked" drain because I installed a supercapacitor bank across the battery a long time ago.
I paid very careful attention to it until I was satisfied it did no harm (its protection board draws a small amount of static power).
I also have a Range device (later design) and was wary of it too until it had been installed for a while.

Looks awesome, Christian. I went with 2 sheets of 2% all around. While impossible to see in (or out of for that matter) I think it looks great on white and I really like the feeling of privacy knowing that no one can see me. Sounds like I'm doing some shady stuff but I'm not, I just don't like people eyeballing me and I can see out of it during the day, so, all good! It's certainly not practical for a daily driver though (in my opinion), but it isn't my DD, and it's never driven in the rain or at night. All that said, I don't think you'll regret the 15 at all.

For reference, I'm running the Gen5DIY reverse light harness with its heatshrink wrapped resistor (so I don't know exactly what kind it is), with zero battery drain or issues since early 2018, still using the original battery.

Yeah, I tried the budget route some other people posted here without a harness. The lights worked fine, but it must somehow keep waking up the BCM when parked. At least that my guess.

I Received New Tires

When I was shocked by the bare threads on my 4,500 mile thread bare tires, I had to order new and my Nitto 555 G2 tires arrived. Just need to find someone who will mount them for me.

I know what you're thinking: He must have totally abused those tires to have worn them out in that few a miles. Well, I know you won't believe it, but I did one very mild burnout at the Memphis drag strap and all the other miles are very easy. I have 1LE wheels and 1LE tires on the car and I firmly believe the alignment from the factory did a job on them.
