Last day to order a '17.

Hello!

I'm looking to order a 2017 Camaro; and I was told by somebody that the due date is coming up. Does anyone know when the last day to order a '17 is? Thank you so much!

Becky gives the cut-off dates in entry #3 in this thread:

There are a number of Camaros sitting on lots now. You could do an inventory search to see if the options you want are commonly available. If not then you might want to order. If you aren't in a hurry for a car then you could wait and see what deals are available over the next few months and order a 2018 if you can't find the car you want.

Good idea. Don't play it too close. Make sure your dealer actually has an allocation to order a camaro. Once you order, keep track of it on Chevy chat and through your dealer to make sure Chevy actually picks up the order. Get status checks at least once a week until you know you have a production date. There is a link around here for the chevy chat service. The order number you get from the dealer may not be the order number when chevy finally picks it up. The whole process strikes me as antiquated compared to what companies like Amazon have going on.

My salesman gave me an order number. I left with that number on my receipt. When his general manager placed the order it was assigned a new number. Salesman apparently does not have clearance to place orders.

I think you're going to be in a tough spot when it comes to a custom order right now. As others said, there's almost a year's worth of surplus Camaro stock right now, and as a consequence the factory may need to radically scale back its shifts or target production. I don't know how that will impact an order placed today, but it certainly doesn't help. They may not start cranking out many more Camaros until the MY2018 starts production, and then you have the opposite problem of being backlogged by new dealer orders.

Buying an existing Camaro on the lot today is the smart move. They will need to have incentives to move inventory, even though it's going to be warmer out soon and traditionally a time for strong sales. The sales boon may not happen this year.

What configuration are you looking for or what makes you inclined to order rather than shop existing inventory? As others have mentioned, chances are there will be deals on existing inventory.

Not speaking for the OP, but it depends on how picky you are, and what you would settle for. I'm looking for a white 1SS 1LE with PDR. From what I can tell after visiting 2 dealerships and searching myself using Chevy's website and Autotrader, there are none in CT. There's one in NY, and I talked with them on the phone and they're not budging much on the price so far. Yes, I could drive (or fly) hundreds of miles out of state if I could make a deal beforehand. I picked up my BMW in SC, drove it 990 miles to get home, and by the time I got there it already had a half dozen paint chips on the nose before I had a chance to apply x-pel to protect it.

To avoid all that, and get the exact car without settling or compromising, sometimes the only way is by ordering. Seems like if I can't place an order by tomorrow Mar 24, it's either wait until the 2018 ordering cycle begins and probably a mid-fall delivery, or settle for some other color/package configuration that's already sitting on a lot.
