Driving car with mods before tune

Hey guys, quick question. I have put cam, heads, headers, msd intake, longtube headers, 103 tb on car. Will driving it a few miles to exhaust shop with open headers and without a tune hurt anything ? Of course I would take it easy on her. Thanks !

idle it there if it even will run. No boost and almost no throttle if you can help it.

I, personally, would have had that all done at the same place. While Satin is correct, you can certainly baby the car there, it will drive like ass and sound like it, too. I wouldn't have risked that, especially with the possibility of getting pulled over in the process. I would have just had it towed. Or, I would have had it tuned at a shop prior to even considering this.

I doubt a very few miles will hurt anything. But if it were me I’d have it flat bedded. Not the time to try and save a few bucks after you have invested so much.

Thanks for all the replies ! I had a guy that was supposed to get me a "canned" tune just to get by until I could get it to a tuner he knows out of state. He hasnt responded to my text so I dont know whats up. I live in upper E TN and what tuners we have locally have kinda mixed reviews. I was going to get it dyno tuned in SC by Charles Barber who is suppose to be reputable. Sounds like sound advice to just trailor it for the exhaust. Thanks again !!

Driving car with mods before tune

If you deleted the cats, it will set a permanent code if you don’t have it tuned out first before driving it.

Hey Whip99, I’m also from upper East Tennessee and planning on using Charles Barber. Any updates?

Thanks for all the replies guys ! I have not driven it anywhere. All I have done is I did start it just to confirm I had good oil pressure and none of those unwanted "metal on metal" sounds ! LOL ! Didn't run it but a couple of minutes. Oil presssure was good and no unusual noises. I'm still waiting on my local guy to put a base tune in it. He is always busy which is a good sighn but it's hard when you are inpatient ! LOL !

I've driven an untuned car after a intake/cam/full exhaust install -- a good ways, while it didn't 'hurt' anything, it certainly wasn't a pleasant experience. Very unrefined and idled very high, made ALOT of noise and was difficult to keep the car from running cruising below 40 MPH due to the high idle.. ..If it were 'me' ... I'd have the car towed.. ..will be alot less headache and risk.
