Car won't move...

Got on it a little in 1st went to 2nd hear a pop. Car now doesn't move. It kind of goes forward a little like tries to move but doesn't in first and reverse can leave it in gear with it stationary and nothing. No clutch smell at all, and clutch hasn't been slipping at all. Ls3 68000k . Any ideas what it could be?

There are a lot of missing variables, did you break the diff? does the engine turn over?

Yes engine turns over and runs I have to still use clutch to put in gears and take out of gears but I can leave it in gear and with car not moving it still stays running if I step on gas even in gear with not moving it does nothing just revs. No loud mechanical sounds

I broke a differential and rear gears in a lifted 1984 sierra a few years ago. Pretty much the same as what your describing, except with the clutch out in gear you could hear pieces of broken rear end parts moving around. Can you see if your drive shaft spins with it in gear, if I does at least you narrowed it down to something in the rear end. If not its probably something in the trans.

Are you saying the car won't move on it's own power, or won't move at all? In other words, you can't push it either?

I guess the first thing I would look at would be the drive shaft at the output shaft. If the driveshaft is broken or off.

When you push on the clutch now, do you still feel a friction point?

The car moves when towed I'm pretty sure frank is right I got to go back to shop tomorrow and check it out. When the car is in gear from a stop when I slowly disengage the clutch it attempts to go forward and backwards in reverse. It just barely moves in both directions when put in respected gear but won't move on its own. I am gonna put it on jackstands tomorrow and check out the driveshafts and half shafts (axles). I had to pull it back a 1/4 of a mile in reverse to get back to my shop and car would go faster than being towed if I gave it a little gas so I believe one of the axles is broke more than likely the passenger side but I don't know till I put it up on stands. Thank you everyone for your replies

its time to go ZL1 if you have enough power to lay waste to SS gear.

It sounds like you may snapped the pinion gear in the differential or the mainshaft in the trans. Once you have the car in the air, (without it running) put the trans in 1st gear and try turning the wheels by hand. If they turn you probably snapped one of those two pieces. If you brke the driveshaft loose (not real likely), it would be banging around when you let the clutch out.
