Go to Lexis Nexis website and opt out of their program. It is my impression that this is a recent option. Here is a link https://optout.lexisnexis.com/

I recall that the previous option was to place a "freeze" on the account, like a credit reporting agency, which is what I did. Here is a link https://consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/freeze

This is the reason I did not activate Onstar and also opted out of the LexisNexis reporting. Come spring when my car comes out of storage I will make sure to disable Onstar permanently. I simply don't trust GM to not monitor and share my private info even when they claim they are not.

I imagine you have checked the car over carefully, I discovered a tracking device that was installed on my car. I was never told about it, but I damn sure told the dealer about later.

Well, the next problem beyond telematics sharing is that insurance companies can simply dump those unwilling to share data into their highest risk bucket... something else has to give, the insurance industry (along with others) is going in a direction very bad for customers.

Is this also applicable to Canada, or is there a Canadian alternative I should be looking into disabling?

Basically I've found two settings for what may or may not be the same thing.

1. Chevrolet/OnStar Smart Driver program. Enrollment is handled through the MyChevrolet app.

2. OnStar Insurance's Driving Program (found in the web version of MyChevrolet account profile under "Data Privacy"). Make sure the button is showing in the "off" position.

Definitely check the My Chevrolet app settings, there's an option for on star "Smart Driver". Mine is toggled off , but curious if this was toggled on for you?

Thanks! I just went to LexisNexis and ordered a copy of any info they have on me. As a CO resident I was also able to fully opt-out and request my info be deleted.

Do you need an Onstar plan to toggle the app setting off? I can't seem to find the setting.

Thank you. I was clear in number 1 but if you didn't tell us about number 2 I'd be screwed. Unfortunately they have 5 months of driving data on me. Still in break in so they don't have any WOT data on me but who knows what they consider as a hard acceleration. Thank god I disabled this before my first track day

When I went to do it, there was a box to enter my social so I stopped. Did you have to enter your social?

No. Log into MYChevy on an actual computer or open a browser on your phone and you'll find it by following evergreens steps. When turning the one off in the app click the top right where your initials are and then click settings.
