The big secret is to not dissuade those about to buy a 2016 SS from waiting... they dont want to steal the thunder of the 6th Gen debut and " shiny-ness" until they decide its the best time reveal according to GM's gameplan... case in point, not revealing the ZL1 at Detroit since they wanted the Buick Avista to steal the show.

By camouflaging the car you hide easy clues on the cars upgrades and make it hearder for the competition to figure out how much more capable the car will be.

A good example of this is all the thick padded panels on the ZL1 in recent sightings... my hunch is that they have added an air extractor duct behind the front wheels since testing with only vinyl wraps, and have cladded the whole car up to hide the change

It may be a left over preproduction test car that they modified and just left the camo on.

I really don't understand the big deal about the LE. Yes I understand its features, but ... 5K for a different aero package and suspension / brakes? The ZL1 hype I get but ...

$3,500 for a package that completely changes the feel and performance of a car is a bargain.

Okay --- is there a significant bump in HP? Or is it just suspension stuff?

If you have never driven the 5th Gen SS, then driven the 1LE.... no one can explain this to you in a convincing manner...

its the best $3,500 you will ever spend... IF you enjoy carving up the twisties.... if you just like cruising around and hammering on the gas in a straight line on occasion... don't bother....

No power upgrade. Suspension, wheels and tires, fuel pump, gearing, aero and alcantera on the wheel and short throw shifter.

If it didn't have camo people would assume it's an SS and maybe notice a what they think is an aftermarket spoiler.

They wanted it to be seen. Rumors build hype.

Doubt there will be a different fuel pump with a 6th gen... Aeromotive and Fuel Lab aren't really doing much for DI motors right now. There's really not ,unchanged they CAN do without further research.

The 5th gen 1LE got the fuel pump from the ZL1. It has different pick ups to keep from starving the pump during high G turns. I'm sure GM has a different set up for LT4 powered cars for the same reason. The in tank pump feeds the high pressure DI pump driven by the cam in the LTx engines. At least, that's my understanding of the system.

Ride height looks an inch or two lower.
