Nail the throttle at 60 or 70 mph and she will drop right down into 3rd or 4th gear and take off.

Now of course, if you are in manual mode its a different story (kind of). You can double tap to skip down two gears instantly....or (and I think this is cool) you can hold the left paddle down and it will automatically shift down to the lowest possible gear.

Oh wow... I didn't realize that was a "thing" on the automatic—makes me wonder if I misjudged the A8 a little when I test-drove it. Seems like that would take care of the cruise-to-cruise misssle passing situation, completely.

That's nothing special. My daily driver Ecoboost Fusion does the same thing.
