[QUOTE=IWANTA(ss);11162361]My thing was I didn’t want to pull the heads and not port them. So I rolled the dice. But your right but as the saying goes hind sight is 20/20/QUOTE]

When the heads were off it was really tempting to throw on the rest of the fixins but I was way over budget anyway. Otherwise yeah, Johnson tie bar lifters, T&D shaft rockers, 3/8 pushrods, Katech timing chain, Melling high volume pump (at 100k miles with the L99 pump) would seem to complete the valvetrain. (With the GPI valve covers to fit those rockers of course... so yeah, $$ can get away from you real quick!

I know right! I wanted the tie bar lifters but could not swing it. Hopefully these lifter trays last 100k

Any issues with the CHE trunnions? Being that you switched to BTRs. Amount of life, use/abuse.

Nope they could go back in the motor but you know how it is when you see a new part and plus I wanted the Shaft rockers I just didn’t have 1500 for rocker arms

Comp Cam push rod measuring tool...good choice. I had a .020" difference between my intake and exhaust on my BTR3 cam. wouldnt have hurt anything, but I wanted the same preload in all the lifters.

Quite a difference. From what I've researched, there is a difference in preload between the intake and exhaust when stock. Due valve length and same length push rods.

How did the CHE's look when you took them out?

Ok at first I didn’t get what you were saying. Stem height would affect the preload as well as the base circle. I never measured the valves so it’s possible. Thanks for the school !

I would hate to be that guy that didn't replace his lifters had a failure and ruined his entire engine.

That was almost me. I found the tip on my rocker arm wedge in between the lifter tray about to drop on to the cam.

They are Fine not issues with them I bought the BTR shaft mount kit to replace them just because it was a cheaper than Jessel rocker arms.

The BTR thing is kind of sticky on the rocker arm movement if they can’t fix that for me I’m going to put the CHE back in.

I'm curious what you meant about BTR being sticky. Do you mean when holding the rocker and trunnion in your hand and moving the rocker back and forth? The BTR's are packed with grease. In my install video, I put the whole assembly under oil and worked it back and forth to get oil inside the bearings. They loosened right up. 10,000 miles so far and no issues.
