The "plus" is the compound change is supposed to have slightly better snow traction

I don't get the growl. The change from Comp 2 to Comp 2 Plus was a compound change. Not sure why they did that (noise?, grip?, save 50 cents per tire in manufacturing?).
I'll probably go with these when I get the new tires in. General G-MAX AS-05 aren't available in 285/35/19.

I measured the SPL on my new BFG tires.
previously I had measured 66.5 dB at 50 mph for the General As-05's, and 72 dB at 80 mph.

The good news:
For the BFG's, I get
59.5 dB at 50 mph, and
64.0 dB at 80 mph.

While they do strike me as quieter than the Generals, I have some issues.

The bad news:
Since my original measurements I have 1) removed the sound tube, and 2) gotten a new cell phone.

What I think:
1) The cell phone mics are probably similar enough.
2) The sound tube delete had the biggest impact.
3) The BFG tires are 1-2 dB quieter than the Generals. I say this because I drive the car every day, and everything I read had me expecting them to be louder. For me to think they are slightly quieter puts it at about a 2 dB difference.

Thanks for the noise level readings.

Also, FWIW, I like the looks of this tire. They are on my 50th anniv wheels. The edge of the tread has a more aggressive look (which some have described as a truck tire).
Strangely, I find myself wishing for the first torrential downpour of the season!

Now that I no longer live in Dc, I am very interested in the wet/hydroplaning performance of tires.

I'm less than thrilled with the Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S the car came stock width. Very interesting tire to drive on in the rain down here.

Yeah. You gotta spring for tires in Florida. I have seen more than a dozen Mustangs in a ditch off of I-75 following a downpour, and I always guess the owners spent all their money on exhaust and decals and skipped the tires.

I am realizing that... I asked my coworkers, the sports car guys run summers all year down here.

I almost had a fun incident literally first day I drove into town, these OEMs are not great in the semi-tropical rain type stuff.

Why not get a summer only that’s better in the rain if you live in florida

That is my plan, just looking through the tire threads on the forum seeing what has worked for folks.

My son had his G37 at college in Ft. Myers for 4 years. First year he went off the road once in the rain without damaging anything. I basically said, "That's it, new tires for you."
I did look at summer-only options, knowing he was gonna be there a while. While I think some summer tires would've offered better dry grip, my main concern was wet grip. Also, all the summer-only options were significantly more expensive than the BFG's being discussed here. He had the earlier non-plus version of this tire. Lasted him 3.5 years without incident.

My general understanding is summer tires are better wet and dry for the most part, just not in the cold. As long as you found a tire that fit what you were looking for, that is the key.

I'm not familiar with Pensacola, but google tells me you can see nighttime temps in the low 40's during Dec and Jan.
