GM Performance Intake

I just installed the GM Performance intake and the question I have is do I really need to get the dealer tune/flash that comes with it? I know the intake is made by Cold Air Inductions, I had one on my 13 Camaro and it didn't need a tune/flash.Any input will be appreciated.

The flash is free, I installed the same intake and had the dealer do the flash (to maintain my warranty)...

It would be interesting to see how much hp the GM intake actually makes after the tune compared to stock and maybe some of the better aftermarket intakes.

In my experience, the tune also improves the throttle response.

Slam dunk defence. Are you a lawyer?

Enhance the sound, style and performance of your vehicle with this 6.2L Cold Air Intake System. This system reduces air intake restriction up to 17% at 360 g/sec. It looks great under the hood, includes a high efficiency dry media air filter and all necessary installation hardware. Rigorously tested for durability, corrosion, and performance, this system is 50-state emissions compliant and will not void the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

This part has been granted an Executive Order from the California Air Resources Board – E.O. D-126-53 (2016–2020)

PART NO. 84651227: 2016+ Camaro LT1, SS and SS 1LE models

Factory recalibration needed.

You putting 17% more air into the engine of course you need your fuel trims/ AFR / MAF adjusted for maximize performance, that’s what the tune does.

Seems like a neat part, but my experience was...either the part with a tune made no more power than stock or made the engine run like crap without the tune.

i remember when it came out with the tune everyone was losing power with it on the dyno. the tune just changes the MAF for emissions.

There's been some negative cases where the cars didn't make any more power or had horror stories without the tune or the wrong calibration like Tim's, but there's actually been some that had before and after dyno's that did show it made more power.

Your opinion and facts dwarf the GM Performance Engineers, everyone here should now do everything you recommend. So what do you recommend for an air intake stock or aftermarket. Please post your facts, results, and preferred choice.

Without the tune the computer will adjust to the increased airflow over time and largely negate the small power increase and improved throttle response. The tune will account for the increased airflow.
