From me reading the posts on tis forum, most on the forum seem to have SS or better. Regarding performance the I4 is a pretty good and will yield good gas mileage. With any car and engine, it will be how you drive and maintain it. Turbos are a bit more fussy than NA engines but with good maintenance, keep the oil clean you should be fine.

Being near retirement I did not want to get as SS or the I4- as they both require premium gas. I went the V6, M6. I bought mine used with low miles, did a few very tasteful mods. I now have an awesome Camaro, runs on regular gas, nets me 33+ MPG for a total investment of 22K. I could not be more happy with the V6.

I have an I4 and couldn't be more happy. Performance is good enough for my needs and the price was just about right.

I haven't heard that much issue with the I4. As said above, maintain it well and you'll be fine.

If someone was to buy me a car....I mean in all respect, I would be happy with whatever they give me. I've always paid for my own stuff. And I've always told myself that if I am given something, even if it's a piece of shit, I'd just be happy with it cause it's free...

I was personally in market for non-ss camaro before I changed my mind and to be honest I prefered V6 over I4. My reasoning was that it was little faster off the factory, non-premium gas and it sounds better than I4. Then again, I was not going to mod my car much, so don't know if it would apply to you the same way, since I hear I4s have more potential if you do decide to mod. That being said considering they are not much far off from each other in pricing, I would recommend V6 over I4, but of course if previous statements apply to you as well. Good luck in your search.

Got over 55k on my 2.0t manual and no issues. Just run a dexos rated oil and invest in a decent catch can set up and it'll last just as long as any of the other platforms.

V6 is bullet proof- good luck getting rid of that 4 banger when you want to upgrade.

What makes a car for me is exhaust sound. The V6 sounds so sweet when you remove the huge "tank" stock muffler without NPP. I put an MBRP axle back and just love the engine sound with the true dual exhaust. With my 20" black Stance wheels, the sweet sound of the V6 and rowing the gears it's the closest thing to an SS. It will never be an SS but at 1/2 the price, regular gas, 33 MPG and it's soooo much better than a cookie cutter Civic, Accord, Altima, etc. that gets about the same gas mileage as the V6.

it probably depends on how hard you drive your car and modding/turning up the boost/bigger turbo would certainly not help.keep it stock or close to it and drive reasonably and you should get many happy miles from any of the camaro engines.

Most of the hardcore enthusiasts on here have the V6 or V8 but there really is nothing wrong with the 2.0t. You get 270 hp which is more than enough to keep up in traffic and maybe get you in trouble if you’re not paying attention to the speedometer. This ain’t the old days when an Iron Duke 4 cylinder Camaro was the performance equivalent to being banished to a deserted island.

Get what your parents can reasonably afford, but get a Camaro. For any trim, there is something there to be happy with. And cosmetic modding on any of the trim models are fun and a good learning experience. The absolute best thing about the Camaro models is you have many options available, both OEM and aftermarket, to make your vehicle unique.

Buy one and make it your own.

Google Randy Pobst. If it's good enough for him, it will certainly be good enough for you.

I would not have any problem with an I4.

It's a good idea. Leave it stock and you should be just fine reliability-wise.
