2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost 4 Banger
Since Ford has killed off the Ford focus the new 4 Banger will be dropped into the mustang so it will be the 2.3 turbo from the rs focus. 332 horsepower and 350 pound feet of torque and Ford is claiming a 0 to 60 time of 4.5 seconds. This car will be equipped with what there calling the high performance package. This package will cost around $3000 to $5000 more then base Camaro that comes with the track package.

I'll allow it. I wouldn't turn up my nose at either of the 4 banger pony cars.

I routinely got 13 mpg in a stock Subaru WRX.
I never saw any reason to buy a thirsty 4 banger when a v8 is an option. My buddy has a turbo F150. He gets less than 10 mpg towing a two axle trailer with a side by side on it. |

I have nothing but total respect for the performance of the Camaro 2.0, technology has most definitely come a long way. In with a Trifecta Tune for what takes about 20 minutes to download and adding another 50 horsepower without getting your hands dirty.

Sound aside, this car is a great bang for the buck. Turbo 4 vs turbo 4 I definitely prefer the Mustang over the Camaro. But with the V6 definitely the Camaro

The whole idea of the 4 banger was to save gas. Then they found they couldn't out of their own way and started adding turbos for power. Now they end up with a fart can with the same gas mileage of a N/A V8.

Pretty certain the current T4 in the Ecoboost Mustang is already a variant of the 2.3L motor used in the Focus RS. Wasn't there a whole issue of Ford putting Mustang head gaskets into the RS motors? With that said, 4 cylinder or not, 4.5 seconds to sixty is pretty potent. I'd probably still end up in a 4T 1LE though, even if it's slower in a straight line.

Reading up, the new Ecoboost HPP pack sounds great. But building one out with all the handling options its a $38k car... Pass, I would rather have a slightly used 1LE V8...
40k for a turbo 4 car?!?! |

This car was recently listed for less than $41K. Granted it's a base GT with a PP2 option. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F303213699539 Here's another more loaded up GT PP2 car that was recently listed for under $43K. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F303274679231 As much as I'm not a fan of the S550 platform the Coyote is a great motor. IMO the V8 is the reason to get a Mudstain. If you want handling then Alpha is a much better choice than S550 IMO. I currently own 4 Fords including 2 Mustangs BTW, so not just being a hater. |

I really want to see a track comparison between this and the V6 1LE. The Mustang will undoubtedly smoke it in a straight line, but I'm curious about how well the Mustang will keep up in the corners.
40K really isn't a lot of money for a turbo 4 anymore. WRX STis, Civic Type Rs, Focus RS, etc all cost close to 40K. Shit, there is a turbo 4 Porsche that costs WAY more than 40K. The only reason why 40K seems 'alot' is because the base V8 pony cars are in that price range as well. |

I most definitely would prefer the1lE Camaro over the cost of the mustang and for almost $40,000 I don't really see Ford selling many.

4-banger also saves WEIGHT... and 330hp is nice when you save 200+lbs. It's not miata weight, but its 2x miata power, 3x miata torque.

I was thinking about ordering a '19 4T 1LE in late '18, with close to the same options as a 1SS 1LE there ended up being less than $5k difference between order price and negotiated $39.5k price of the 1SS 1LE.
And that $5k is almost made up in the ridiculous depreciation of the 4 and 6 cyl Camaros. The SS is bad enough... when I was looking the used 4Ts were not in demand and priced low. $35k new, how much after a year? With the SS 1LE we're at least starting at $5.5k under sticker. The economics of the 4T cars in 1LE form, as well as the Mustang ecoboost w/handling, just don't make that much sense to me. A modded 4T 1LE would kill at autox though.

for sure, ditching all that weight in the front end really helps
