Head cam build
What’s up everyone, so the last time I posted I was in the midst of doing my cam(hi-ram cam from GPI) and Factory Mast head install. Well long story short, had some stuff with work come up due to Covid, so I just decided to sell the heads, rockers, and cam. Ended up installing the cam into a buddy’s car and another buddy bought the heads.
Fast forward to now. I decided to try something different and ended up getting a hold of Martin Smallwood at SRD and talking with him about my plans for the car. Told him what my goal was(run into the 9’s) and that I wasn’t going to gut my car to try and reach it. So we decided on a cam and a set of Greg Good 2.7 small chamber CID heads. So the setup is the cam from Martin CID heads w/LT4 intake and LT1/4 exhaust valves and comps conical springs flycut factory pistons to .180 and balanced the bottom end Factory rockers with CHE trunnions My homemade OTR setup XDA comp pushrods Circle D 6F converter Aerospace pro street brakes w/15 rear 17 front wheel setup Full LT4 fuel system 2” ARH longtubes and dumped x-pipe at the rear ATI underdrive 95mm hi-ram that I opened up to a 105mm Katech 103mm Tb and Katech oil pump Pray’s flexfuel kit 1 piece driveshaft The car will still be driven on the street quite a bit as well. Still waiting on Longtubes, driveshaft, Tb, and brakes to show up. After that, it’ll be ready to fire up!

how long will that factory rocker arm hold up @ 7500+ rpm?
looks like it'll be a beast. that's a lot of camshaft for a high ram.

Nice build, interested to see how far in the 9s you go. Are you doing any weight reduction or stock weight?
Also, with the oil pump do you need to align it or is it just bolt on? |

Car still has a/c, full factory cloth interior, and wipers and it will stay that way. The car ran consistent 11.0 at 124-125 right off of the dyno with longtubes, 95mm hi-ram/stock95mm Tb, homemade OTR, e85, and a drag pack with it cutting out on the 3-4 shift. At that time I had the front sway bar pulled, dumped exhaust, the supports pulled, and belly pan removed. The oil pump is a direct replacement pump.

The big reason was because I already had the 2116lsr lifters and already had the factory rockers. Which I know it can be done with the factory rocker. But we talked about going with a LLSR as well and I still may end up doing that after this year.

Sick track build. 9's shouldn't be a problem with the weight reduction you have done. However I don't see it being that enjoyable to drive on the street. Dumped exhaust and that big stall is going to be fatiguing to drive. 27.5 degrees of overlap is also going to require some serious tuning skill to retain some decent driveability. Should be a beast either way!!

I personally think that it’s a personal preference thing on what some people can handle compared to others. Thanks man! It’s going to be fun for sure.

It’s coming. I ended up getting caught up with doing everyone else’s stuff that I haven’t had time to really finish it. But I’ve been getting more and more time in it here lately!!
