Need help…..RESOLVED

I recently had a cam/heads build completed. The engine was pulled to complete the project. Everything was good for about 2 months when out of no where, my tech stated bouncing erratically. Car ran fine and continues to run fine but now the tack bounces non stop. I also have the following codes:

U0126
U0136
U0151
U1833

The shop checked the 3 grounds on the engine and said all appeared good. I believe this is a ground issue but I have no idea where. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a particular ground location or harness that would affect the modules related to those codes?

Check the wiring around your headers, you may have a melted wire. This post had similar issues and a melted wiring harness was the cause:

Wow, we just went thru this on a 16 SS Camaro that my buddy installed a P1 SC on. However his had a miss before he did the install. After the install he still had one and we decided it had to be plugs and wires. He replaced those but still had a miss so we couldn't finish the tune. He decided he'd replace the springs, pushrods just to make sure he didn't have a broken spring. That didn't work either so he just had a feeling it could be a ground so he builds chassis for a living and had a ground kit laying around so he ran a new ground up front on the passenger side and it quit missing so we could finish the tune.

That harness by the headers was relocated during the rebuild and is not near the headers. It’s actually behind the coolant reservoir. I’m at a loss.

I just looked again. The ground wire on the front cylinder head has a gouge in the rubber sleeve causing copper wire to be exposed. Could this be the issue? With the procharger on, I can’t reach the wire to re-wrap it and test it.

Thank you.

Add another ground cable. It has helped numerous people not only with a slow crank on a hot engine but also those with a bouncy tach and other weird electrical problems. This link has a lot of detail and describes several ways to add another ground cable: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=586153

Its worth a shot as its cheap and easy to do. Good luck! Keep us posted.

Well…..the issue is resolved. It was a loose ground (near the alternator). I can’t believe one lose bolt caused so much anxiety. either way….it’s fixed!
