I came out of a 2016 M3 into my SS 1LE, AND while on paper their 0-6o times are just about identical, my M3 felt quite a bit faster straight line.

Between the way the turbos come in and the DCT, it just felt faster. It's Twin turbo VS N/A V8, they just feel sooo different in how they go about accelerating.

HOWEVER, that was the ONLY thing the M3 did better then the SS 1LE.

I am sure there have been some improvements to the M2 Comp. and it being a 2019 and all but, putting brand name aside, I like my SS 1LE SO much more that the M3.

To be fair though, I have not driven the M2 or obviously the M2 Comp.

My comment did not concern drag racing.

Cool to see American publications pitting Camaros directly against M Products. Over here in good old Europe, such an article could never exist. Especially not when the Camaro wins every time.

Makes me that much more proud to have chosen the Camaro over an M2/M4.

So if the M2 competition had similar sticky tires, would the gap be much smaller or mostly gone? The M2 competition is slightly lighter too from my understanding.

A similarly specd 2ss 1le is not that far off in price - around $50k msrp vs 58k for the M2.

Nice to see more 'competition' from BMW.

If it weren't for reliability issues and big price difference (I got a base lvl v6 1le), I would have considered a 2-series or an M2.

Motortrend did a M2 vs V6 1LE test

they also did an M4 vs SS (dont think 1LE), and pretty much were surprised at how well the Camaro did.

I will say I am not a fan of the 2 series look. I am pretty much over the latest BMW cars. I think the last one I really liked was the E92 M3.

Doesn't need to be Road & Track. Any mag is fine.

I freaking hate motor trend for doing these stupid comparisons, the M2 starts at just below 60k the V6 1LE starts at just above 30k! I don't think anyone's cross-shopping these two cars.

IOW, the extra $30k and stronger acceleration only bought the M2 the same lap time. Sounds like a bowtie 'win' to me.
