Camaro Drag Program Build
When I first saw the teaser video of these two cars in 2016 I was taken totally by surprise. For years the Chevrolet Performance Parts Catalog has left me envious of all the hardcore pieces that are available to the road race guys. I am thrilled that they now offer parts aimed at the weekend drag racer. For almost two years I have been working with my friends at Chevrolet Performance to come up with a cool way to showcase this awesome program. This build is my spin on the concept! |

This is the "before" photo.
The car is a 1SS with an 8-speed automatic transmission and magnetic ride control. The only other options were the paint color and stripe. As this car will not see public highways we have installed a rollcage and racing seats for safety. |

This is the interior today.
We have removed the HVAC, air bags, wipers, and speakers. Also removed was carpet padding and sound deadener as well as engine covers, etc. Obviously, most people will not remove most of these items. I have detailed records of what everything weighed and will share in this thread. That way you can make informed choices with your build. Last edited by gump; 09-14-2018 at 10:28 AM. |

The first thing that I did before making any modifications was visit my local truck scales.
This is with a quarter tank and no driver. |

What do you have in mind for the engine. Looks like a really nice job on the roll cage.

The first step will be the Chevrolet Performance bolt-ons. The car will see a lot of runs in that form. After that, it depends on feedback and what Chevrolet Performance would like to showcase.

More please!
Weight of parts removed? Total new weight? More pics of the cage? What are the small rods on the cage below the door bar?

The photos above (on the scales) are straight from the dealer.
