Undecided as well until more specs are available. I think the 50th Bday party for the Camaro at the Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise in August might reveal some details of a special anniversary Z28. If so, I'm all in as I've been waiting for a special 6th gen Camaro. Come on Chevrolet!! Knock it out of the park!!

I'd have to say ZL1:
Realistically I would never push a Z28 to it's full potential and I am much more likely to go to a drag strip than a Road Course. Also the ZL1 is no slouch when it comes to handling so I think I would be happier all around with the extra Supercharged horsepower.

Zl1 for me I can't afford both or the Z/28 probably. Plus I like the creature comforts that the zl1 is most likely going to have over the z/28

It's about having a name plate from a car with an elusive past. There were only 69 ZL1s originally made and so that's were the legendary nameplate sticks in my memory. It's not as rare as the original car but I believe most people have heard of Z28, Trans Am, GTO etc. for me it's about owning something different. The second part is the SC LT4. I am not looking for a naturally aspirated motor. Once again it's about being different. There are lots of cars on the road. If I wanted a really different type of fast car I suppose I could buy the TESLA. But I want to ruin the environment and do it in a cloud of tire smoke. Third is the styling. I'm not into slamming the car, though the stance on this just looks perfect. I don't want to buy lots of aftermarket bits to change the appearance because I think they got it right the first time. I won't be tracking the car unless it's stolen if you know what I mean. I've owned lots of rare items. It's my personality. A conversation starter. There's a mystique about the ZL1 which I believe transcends the other cars. I want people to see the car and say, What is that? It's about having the most powerful production Camaro ever made. Nuff said.

For you OP your post should have shown you what to do. You are afraid of maintenance cost and it will be your daily driver. That's a non brainer in your case. You want the ZL1.

This is very true. I want the baddest Camaro there is... It's interesting how the Z/28 seems to be 'the best' Camaro for 5th gen. I don't think the ZL1 gets enough credit when talking about tracking or longevity, not being able to hang with the Z/28. At least that's what I've taken away from my extensive reading about both cars. I do have a liking for a wicked naturally aspirated engine though. Anyway, that's why I say I'm not 100% sold on the ZL1 just yet. Just 99% at the moment

It will be interesting to see how "DD Friendly" the new Z/28 will be. If it similar to the 5th gen, not very. But I feel like Chevy has learned from the low 5th gen Z/28 sales and the new car could be a little more DD friendly.

I really liked the power and suspension on the 2015 Z28 personally. It ran great and handled the way I wanted. I also drove the 2015 ZL1 (6 speed) and holy cra* was it fast. But the ZL1 was a much heavier car and was like driving an overpowered beast. The 2016 Camaro SS 6-speeds (driven 3) were really very refined, handled well and had plenty of power. Actually, I thought the 2016 SS's handled similarly and were powered very similarly to the 2015 Z28. Due to the 2016 SS weight savings and only 50 less HP than the Z28, it is a great buy, especially with the big sticker difference. I have now seen $50k-$55k 2015 Z28s quite a bit too. The costly Z28 brake expenses are a deterrent. I would expect the 2015 Z28 to easily outperform the 2016 SS on the track. With the 2016 1SS at $40k it runs the same as a BMW M4 V6 twin turbo that I priced yesterday at $80k in LA. BMW has their heads where the moon don't shine. The ZL1 with 640 hp at $65k will be hard to beat. I have two Z28s now so waiting to see the new Z28.
