These two (?) mid engine Corvettes at the Ring perhaps are not the real "top-dogs"..?....No giant winged spoiler, and running stock exhaust apparently without the curved noise direction pipe the last Corvettes at the Ring had....
I suppose it's something to get all excited about, but I doubt we'll see any earth-shattering lap times with these two cars....We'll see....just my $.02. |

I don't know if you'll ever get one. But it is supposedly breaking track records all over (Road Atlanta, VIR, etc...).

Speculation that the C8 could still offer a manual.

will that ever happen - no... but now they own the proprietary rights to that concept in that implementation.

I think GM would be missing a huge opportunity, if they leave the manual out. I know not many mid engine cars offer a manual, but that's exactly why GM should. People want the manual so bad, even Porsche brought it back. Porsche, the company with one of the best dual clutch transmissions in the world was convinced to offer manual options.

Porsche brought it back for 2018. It’s gone again for 2019. All the whining and it didn’t sell again this year. There’s a reason people.

What calibre are we talking here? 30mm like in the Warthog or something even bigger? Regardless, you could do one hell of a straffing run with a Lancer. The tricky part would be getting the other side to form their entire army into a single file column.

Its not that its hard to do. Its that hardly anybody wants a manual in their mid engined super car. If nobody is going to buy it, there isn't much point in offering it.

My understanding was the patent was related to an electronically actuated clutch, which in theory could allow you to make an "automated" manual car where the driver has the option to shift for themselves when they want, or put it in "auto" when they don't feel like shifting. Would have to have the ability to automate the shifting as well of course.
