The biggest difference now seems to be the driving experience, materials used, quality, and nameplate/prestige.

While the SS 1LE can match/beat the Aston Martin, if given the choice, where would you want to spend your time with performance being equal?
Wake me up when Aston delivers the manual Vantage.

If I have to pay for, and do the upkeep and maintenance, I'm happy with the 1LE.

The american car offerings these days are all ridiculous performance values. Pick the style and color you like and enjoy!

The next step is to create about a dozen threads all about this.

My panties aren’t in a wad over this. Lightning lap is a bunk test where journalists lap the cars. It’s not like motortrend where Randy puts all the lap times down. So, the best driver at lightning lap could be in the worst car and the worst driver in the best car, it’s not a scientific test at all. When they get one person to lap all the cars then I’ll buy what they’re selling.

They should have included the SS 1LE to compare against the Mustang PP2
Lightning Lap is for new cars or new packages. The SS 1LE is not a new package. The turbo 4 1LE is.

It also still has a MT82 in it. Being a prior 15 GT PP owner, I will say that PP2 looks awesome! I agree with having one pro driver lay down laps. At least then you should have some consistency.

Can’t wait for the Head 2 Head SS 1LE vs PP2 and Randy Pobst driving both cars. I know we will win

they need to slap the same tire on both cars, that would be a better fight for the SS 1LE, I dont think the PP2 package has any wow factor to it. Looks like another mustang. Surprised they didnt do much to it like GM did to the SS 1le.

Personally I like that it doesn't have anything super distinguishing on it. I personally don't care for the black hood on the 1LE.

I like how the PP2 looks. I don’t like how they used Cup 2s without making the drivetrain track ready. Just seems like a cheap way to improve magazine times.

At every opportunity they can, Ford has said that the PP2 is not designed for use on the track, which is why it doesn’t have the coolers. In their view, it’s optimized for the “street” and backroads of America.
