And I wonder if you add LTs, MSD intake, and CAI to go with that combo?

while this is a excellent point, but the thing im thinking about the heads/cam is no weight penalty. I have the magride and the ZL1 team said they needed to tweak the magride tune for the extra weight up front. idk how significant any of that is tho

It cannot be that significant, the magride does not need to be tweaked because you have a 170 pound driver instead of a 250 pound driver. Or 4 people in the car.
Having spent the last couple of years in a car with magride, I can tell you it does not give a shit. It adjusts and moves on. That's the idea it's constantly adjusting.

you don't necessarily need the long tubes, but the install for everything else will easily be double what you've got there

Yes a full on H/C+bolt on car will run at the very low end on price as far as SC or turbos are concerned once you consider assiciated mods with FI.

But there is something to be said for keeping the NA SS right aorund stock weight. The H/C car will have plenty of power for anything you might want to do. Heat soak will not be problem and the other suspension and driveline components will not be as highly stressed if FI car uses all its power. More things will break.

I have owned a bolton 5th gen 1LE and then added FI to it. I also have owned a 5th gen ZL1 and I much preferred the ZL1 over the FI 1LE even though the 1LE was faster. I also spent more in the end on the 1LE than a ZL1 convertible.

If you want to FI your SS, drive around on the street, and take it to car shows, then adding an SC may do it for you. But if you want to make full use of what you built you will spend some bucks and in the end you may like the original car better. That happened to me and I am not repeating my mistake with this car.

Just my opinion. If I want a V8 FI Camaro I will save up for a ZL1. That would be a much more enjoyable car to me.

Wonder what you'd get with a ported TB, intake and E85 flex fuel sensor and tune? Guys are showing over 50RWHP with a few bolt ons and flex fuel.

Sorry, thats my basic cam knowledge for now. It's been awhile...
The choppy-ness you refer too comes from the overlap which is determined by the duration split and the lobe separation. It could be a .700" lift but if it had a negative overlap, chances are it would not lope at all. By this cam having a 116.5 lobe separation, it puts this cam on the milder side of things. I'm more concerned with the 228/248 degree split. That's 20 degrees of separation and even on a 116.5 , it may require a higher stall converter. A good tuner can look at the specs before you buy it and know whether or not... My gut is a 3000 stall minimum to regain near stock drive ability...

BUT IT FEELS LIKE A BEAST AND THAT SOUND, YOU CANT GET THAT WITH A SUPERCHARGER. IVE HAD 4 FORCED INJECTION CARS/TRUCKS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS AND IM GLAD I WENT THIS ROUTE. THE GM ENGINEERS SAID TO EXPECT 565-580 WITH A GOOD LONG TUBE AND CAI. WE WILL SEE

That's awesome! Really looking forward to the final results. H/C has been slow to move on the LT1 platform. If you would like additional input on cold air kits please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,
Tim
