High mileage A8s out there without shudder??

Hey everyone
I stumbled onto a decent used 17 2SS A8 with 25k miles for around 30k (hope thats a good deal lol). The one good thing is this dealership supplies a lifetime warranty for transmission/engine. Now I am wondering what % of users have the shudder/TC issue with the A8 (is it only around 20% or is it eventual no matter what) and is there an actual GM fix outside of an aftermarket TC + Tune??

Even if the warranty includes unlimited TC replacements (which i doubt they would honor anyway) this might not be worth the headache for me and I am looking for an "actual fix." Unfortunately my manual skills are not great and I deal with a lot of city traffic so I would prefer the A8.

The latest fluid and flush procedure seems to hold promise for a permanent fix, but only time will tell. For me it's been about 15,000 miles and so far it's been great since the latest procedure. How is your dealership providing a lifetime trans/engine warranty like that? I wanna go there lol

Yea it seems too good to be true (and it just might be). I'll request that the mobil 1 fluid TSB be a part of the purchase and hope it stays fixed.

I think if it happens to me, I'm going to get that procedure done and then sell the car immediately.

No faith in the A8 trans? If so, I'm with you lol. I don't know about you, but I'll be upside down with this car for probably another 4 years or so. So I kind of need to focus on the bright side of things, or it just might drive me a little crazy lol

Yep that's the million dollar question with this new fluid and flush. We shall see in time

Pretty sure the new fluid has fixed majority of the cases. The ones that had the problem return likely suffered extensive damage to the converter from driving it for a prolonged period with the shudder and will need a replacement along with the new fluid.

Do you guys know if a circle d torque converter with a tune has been a long term fix?? Or there are other components in the A8 that are problematic

Far as I know anybody that has replaced the converter with a good aftermarket from Circle D or FTI has never had a problem.
