Any idea what it is?
I searched for the part on gmpartscenter.net but no luck finding it! I believe it's part of another assembly. BTW, it happened to me today. Put the top down and I started to hear a rattle. Opened the top and found the same piece you did. It was on the passenger side.

Thanks for confirming! That is the same bulletin as the link I found.

I just came back from the dealership (didn't see your post prior to visiting them). I showed the issue and the loose part to the dealer, he pulled on the panel and the part (cylinder fell out). He will be ordering the 4 parts and I'm scheduled for an appointment on Wed, 8/07.

Had the panels replaced today. They didn't change the window regulators claim it wasn't necessary, even though my build date is 10/16. BTW, I did see where the loose part goes and the new panels have them.

We'll see if anything goes wrong down the road (I still have 30monthss and 30K miles to go on my bumper to bumper warranty). BTW, the Service Tech claims the new regulators are noisier.

@john94si...do you notice any increased noise with the new regulators?

Anyone attempt the repair themselves? Seem like it will be a issue we will all be faced with possibly more than once.

I am so glad I found this thread. Unfortunately, this has happened to my top on both sides. I will be scheduling a service appointment immediately and showing them the TSB. I believe I still have some warranty left since I bought it used in 2018. Thank you all for posting your experiences here.

yes, Did mine last night. Very easy took about 10 minutes for one side.
One pin by the top of the back seat and 12 clips. Just pull up and all come right out.

As luck would have it, top ripped up the panel again.

This is the 4th time in less than 2 years.

Oh well.

By the assembly view shown that is the correct part, but I don't think it's that simple.

When the dealership replaced mine under warranty, they also replaced the window regulator underneath. A redesign to the top trim piece includes an extra clip that goes into an added slot in a redesigned window regulator bracket. This change reduced the flexing of the top trim piece plastic, making it less likely that the sliding cover will pop out of its tracks (which results in the coil spring popping loose.) I only found out this detail of the parts involved after my rear window was behaving strangely after the dealer fixed the cover. It was explained to me by a service tech during an additional trip there to get the window problem fixed.

So there are 2 parts involved in the fix, top trim piece and window regulator, and 2 versions of those parts, with and without the extra clip / slot. I have no idea if the new version of the trim piece with the additional clip will fit into the old window regulator bracket or not.

Sorry I could not be more complete with my info, but I just wanted you to be aware that the part swap may not be straightforward. You said this happened again, can you find out if the window regulator was replaced during the previous repair? You may want to check the return policy of wherever you purchase before you buy just in case.

Please post again if you find out anything more. My covers have been fine for the past 2+ years after both sides were replaced with the new parts, but this most likely will be an issue for all of us convertible owners down the road.
