Garage Door Opener

Can you get the garage door opener in a convertible? I just bought mine yesterday and was disappointed to not have that option.

My 50th anniversary has it. That’s why it’s not always a good idea to buy the less expensive model and add options. As you add to what you missed out on you could easily spend more.

I believe it's standard on the 2LT and 2SS but my 17 2SS Vert has it.

And I doubt there is a simple way to upgrade to it either. Lots of cars guys buy sun visor and replace bu convert visors are cheap crap and 90% worthless.

Not sure what model (year & trim) you have, but quick glance online, GM sells the module for around $100. The overhead trim shows just one, so maybe you have blank covers or something, don't know?? If you pull the trim, you can check to ensure you have the wiring harness up there and my bet says you probably do.

I think you can upgrade it. Maybe not as easy as just changing a visor, but looks doable.

Part # 23341161 and you will also need the button cover as well, Part #22834550.

Double check for your specific year model & trim and ask a vendor like GMpartsguy or Trunkmonkey parts as their always willing to assist.

Good luck!!

was someone able to retrofit it?
I have a European 2SS vert but without the garage door opener.
I checked the wiring yesterday and didn't see a connector for the receiver in the overhead console. Or maybe i just really missed it, as I was not able to remove the whole overhead console.

Does someone have a picture of the wiring harness in the overhead console, where I could see how it would look like if the connecteor would be there.

would really be thankful if someone could upload a picture of it.

I was also checking for ordering the whole harness, and there it is confusing as there are 2 part numbers:

23
Harness 84324364 CONVERTIBLE, 2ND DESIGN (2018)

23
Harness 84143962 CONVERTIBLE, 1ST DESIGN (2017-2018)

so no clue what the difference is, as i have a 2018. :-(
does someone know?

Thank you

In '19 it appears they dropped the whole Homelink product. I didn't like it but went back to a cheap remote clipped to the visor.

Check here. I believe they were also working on something for the 2019 models.

The 2019s don't have it.

From the 2017 order guide here:
https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=461600

The UG1 homelink option was available in the trims below. As others have stated, contact Gen5DIY with your VIN and they can set you up for a couple hundred $. Gen5DIY is a forum sponsor and very responsive to this community.

The install was very easy. Bought the harness from gen5diy used promo code camaro5 and worked. When on ebay and got the push button part for 20ish shipped and a new transmitter for 45 shipped. Install took about 30 min. Works great would suggest to anyone who doesnt have it and wants it. All in about $120 and a half hour of my time.

How do you get around the rear view mirror? Is it part of the panel that needs to be removed?
