Can't cut a good 0-60 launch on Michelin PS4S

Hey guys, new to the forums.

Let me preface my issue. Purchased my '16 2SS M6 stock close to a year ago, absolutely love it. When I bought it the dealership replaced the stock tires with brand new Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTZ stock size tires; on these tires after some practice I was able to pull low 4's consistently (0-60) with a best 4.0 while using the stabiltrack launch control (launching about 4200 rpm) on the street with 30psi and moderate burnout before (just enough to see a little smoke from the rear).

Fast forward to these last few weeks I upgraded all 4 tires to Michelin PS4S (295/35 rear 265/35 front) on stock wheels. The Uniroyals lasted about 18k miles or so but even at the end of their lifespan was able to pull 4.5 or so launches. With my new tires I haven't been able to get below 4.8 and most of the time 5.0 using my same method (even manually launching at low rpm). I have even tried lowering rear psi to 24.

Anyone got a clue or any tips on launching on the street with Michelin PS4S? I thought for sure I would be hitting 3.8-3.9 times with these tires.

Thanks in advance!

I wonder if those times are Accurate because your rear tires are now taller than the oem tires. That’s gonna throw off your speedo and gears.

Nope... Tire size has to be corrected in the ECU for the performance timer and speedometer to be accurate.

Didn’t think about that, I wouldn’t think it would have that big of an effect.

That tire size should only affect the speed by 1.96% so you are actually going 61.2 when the car thinks you are going 60. I would say the bigger factor was the Tiger paws were spinning on your 1-2 shift and hitting 60 before the car was actually traveling 60 and now you are hooking up on the shift.

Coming from the drag racing realm where 60ft are very important I would say its going to be hard to get low and consistent 60ft on a tire that was made for cornering. My camaro when bought new was a manual and I raced it a lot but I always ran tires for street driving and different tires for racing. On manual cars they make a huge difference.

Yeah, what did you go with for the drag pack setup? I would like to take mine to the strip after all this crap blows over.

grab a set of 17x10 and run a 305/45/17 for the strip.

Grippier tire typically means more RPM at launch.. treat gas pedal like gradual lever.. instead of On-OFF switch

So i did a test. I have 295/35/20 on the car and they are close to wore out but. I did 0 100 with the speed o at 27.35 in hp tuners. That seems to be correct for that tire. I then moved the setting to the 26.95 that the car had set stock. The difference in times was not much if any on the car. First run was 3.7 to 60 and 7.6 to 100. Then changeing to the stock size of 26.95 it was 3.9 and 7.8. So i put it back to the 27.35 and did another pass and it was 3.9 and 7.8 again. da was 2000. So its not much and certinaly not a half second for the differenc in size speed o setting. I always use the launch control on the car and its a 10 speed. I can not dupalcate its repeatability. I can no doi as good as it does either. So for what uits worth.
