Clunk in rear end when making sharp turns

Anyone else had this noise shop up yet? I only hear when up to speed (say 30-45 mph) and then I make a fast left or right turn, I hear a clunk. I crawled under the car not too long ago to make sure the half shaft bolts were tight, and they seemed to be.

Anyone else run into this sound coming from the rear end area?

Last year when it turned cold I had that noise, and am beginning to again this year in the mornings. For me, I know it's the rear diff, but have yet to change the fluid. Need to do it soon, as now I'm at the recommended mileage to do so under the maintenance schedule. (45k)

Heard a clunking/groaning sound resembling that this morning. The temperature was in the 30's, but I only have around 12,000 miles.

These diffs make noise when cold...just no way around it. I changed my fluid 3 times @ 1200 miles. It went away and then I noticed it starting back up now the weather has turned. It only does it for a couple turns, then goes away. I am guessing its something with the clutches not slipping when cold...acting like a spool.

My diff doesn't make noise. Change your fluid. Use the manual recommended fluid by gm. Already has the limited slip additive in it. If it doesn't get rid of the groan the first time, change it again.

My moms CTSV groaned when cold, took 2 diff fluid changes 500 miles apart to get rid of it for good.

already done that...along with several others. It comes back regardless when the temps drop down below 40.

This is not diff groan, already changed the fluid out at 1500 miles with the Gm fluid. This is an actual "thud" or "clunk" when making hard turns.

Sorry to bring this almost year old thread back, but has anyone figured out what the cause of this rear end “thud” or “clunk” is yet? I’ve got the same darn thing going on and it’s pissing me off big time.

Check the sway bar end links and every other bolt and nut in the rear suspension.

Mine was actually dumbass moment for me, it was one of my tools in the trunk. I found it, no more clunk for me now.
