HPFP GPH
Does anyone know how many GPH the stock HPFP on the stock lobe puts out?
Is the line from the tank to feed it 5/16 or 3/8?

Going off memory here, the LT1 pump has a 10mm bore and a 5.7mm stroke. The cam lobe spins half engine RPM and has 3 strokes per camshaft revolution. Pump makes enough for about 580-600 Wheel HP, but you'll have to do the math to calculate flow.
The low pressure fuel line is 3/8". Hope that helps. |

Hey 95, I queried the google machine and this has some data.

Thanks for digging that up! It was very helpful.
I didn't realize that the ECM had a hand in the fuel pump operation. These computers are getting way to sophisticated. Next thing you know, they will have a CAN system to monitor paint fade....

If the math is correct.... 0.00035663 gal per cam rev, or 1.1 gal @ 6200 engine rpm. I'm sure most of that is getting dumped back to the tank thru the PRV. BSFC (@.5) says a stock motor only needs .64 gal. Almost 2/1 supply vs. demand. Based on Troch's page, a FI motor @ 750WHP (850FHP) is going to need 93.5 GPH from the tank That has 10% extra to compensate for a partially plugged fuel filter and pumping gas only. Corn needs 121.55 GPH. The HPFP needs to flow a minimum of 1.42G (more lobes or bigger pump) to hit that .6 BSFC. Or 2.44 gallons to follow the factory engineering. Based on the above assumptions, 30% and a .6 BSFC, corn needs to flow a minimum of a 1.85G and to move 3.2G to meet factory safety margins. Anybody have info on the LT4 and Lingenfelter pump?

You’re welcome! “CAN system to monitor paint fade”
