newbie question here

Hey guys,
First time posting. Had a few questions:

1. Which sixth gen year model SS was the fastest?

2. Is there a difference between the LE and 1LE package?

3. Is the LE/1LE package offered on both the 1 and 2SS?

Thank you.

to the forums

1. What do you mean by "fastest", straight line 0-60, quarter mile or road course lap times, or...? Those with the A8 or A10 auto trans are faster in general, and the SS 1LE cars is much faster on track than its non-1LE counterpart. Oh, and everyone knows red ones are the fastest

2. There is no "LE" package as far as I know, only 1LE and that is the track performance package.

3. Yes.

The 2016-18 automatic 8 speeds are about 4.1 seconds to 60. For 2019 they switched to a 10 speed and its now about 3.9 seconds. All 6th gen 6 speed manuals are about 4.3 seconds 0-60. It doesn’t matter what model year, performance data is the same on the manuals.

The 1LE package will affect track times but not acceleration. It’s strictly a handling improvement package.

I’m not sure where you’re getting that the A10 is faster than the A8? I don’t have a dog in that fight since I have a manual but from everything I’ve seen, there’s no difference at least in 0-60 & 1/4 mile times between the 2 autos. Also, you can definitely getting better than a 4.3 with a manual. With a good driver it’s going to be very close to the auto but obviously either auto will have a slight edge in a straight line.

A10 shifts a tad faster and has a much better stock tune imo. Ratios are also a tick ttigher and steeper earlier on. After 5 or 6 its a wash.

I have a manual too. Car and Driver clocked the 10 speed at 3.9, the 8 speeds were all clocked at 4.1 to that point by all the car magazines, and manuals have been 4.3 since 2016. Not sure how much better of a driver you can find than the guys who do this stuff for a living. I’d love to say my car is as fast as the automatics but we both know it’s not true.

Well, good sirs, I have a 2016 and a 1.9 0-60!

Of course I know he means stock. And I would say any SS from 2016-2020 is going to be pretty much the exact same as far as "fast" with the autos having a slight edge in speed. I've seen 0-60s from 3.9 to 4.6 in the A8s, A10s and manuals, and 0-100 from ~9 to 10+ seconds. Depends on the driver, altitude, weather and tire spin. And go for a 1LE if you want the fastest around a track.

Good choice! There are always 1LE's for sale in the classified section: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=279

I'd love to know how they got either of those numbers. It took me hours of fiddling with settings, testing different launch styles, different roads etc before i even got to 4.1 seconds. Most were around 4.4-4.5. Unless our 0-60 timers are way off.
