SS ticking noise under acceleration

Can be hear in V4 mode under light acceleration. Sounds like an exhaust leak or lifter tick.

So my car has been making this noise since day 1 that I pick up. Been to dealer 4 times. Dealer noticed the tick too, they tried on other SS models and it is the same result.

Dealer been told by GM that it is normal and GM is aware of this complain.

So, what about you guys? Do you hear this ticking noise under V4 mode acceleration? (Windows up, no radio)

9/10/2016 Updated:

Use headset to hear the ticking noise. Turn your bass off if possible.

2/1/2017 Updated:

I enhanced the ticking noise by removing some of the bass/noise from the videos. See below:

V4 and V8 Ticks video:

Is this your first direct injected car? The injectors are extremely noisy on these cars.

No. I have a 2015 Ford mustang and 2009 BMW 335i. They are all direct injected and they do not make any ticking noise at all when driving.

GM direct injected motors are noisey.

Does yours tick when driving?

I just want to make sure it is not just me. The tick is so loud that I can hear it from the inside.

It does not tick when cold, it will after warm up. This is driving me crazy

Might be the valve in the exhaust squeaking when going from v4-v8 and vice versa? I know mine does that sometimes.

I hear the same thing in V4 when going up incline or light accel. This normal, waiting on Diablo update for this car so I can disable the AFM.

Same issue here. It is very noticeable when you are at speed and gently press the gas pedal. Rankity clankity... Ugh... Makes me wonder if my engine is about to explode or fall off.

Take it to your dealer if you fell its not right, hate to say this but it may be time to go away from center cam and go over head cam, that may make the sound go away, i know they do this to get the most MPG out of the car.

I have noticed two different types of sounds from under the hood while driving.

1. Clickity click - very mild high pitched

2. Clankety clank - very loud, scary

I get a high pitched squeak noise. It does sound as if its the valves closing but it's so loud that it can be heard bouncing off the cars around me (when in traffic) and it's very noticeable. Very annoying.

Welcome to the world of Active Fuel Management. That's why I will order an SS with M6. I was talking with a dealer and he said all trucks have AFM starting in 2014 too.
