Changed my trans fluid today. I’ll be taking it on a work trip Wednesday 150milles so I’ll see how it feels then.

But was under the car and saw this...see something missing?

Overall a good day to work on the car

Looks like the nut that secures your right side primary cat.

Yeah. can anyone help me find the part number for that nut?

Edit:Still no luck...wonder how much false knock that sumbitch was responsible for. Might have to use a sears hardware grade 8 for the time being

It's PN 11546441. M8 x 1.25 thread if a dealer or online can't get you one fast enough.

Did this for the first time last night. Had 22k miles on my original fluid. Changed it with the car on ramps and squeezed my floor jack under the trans to support it while I pulled the 6 15MM bolts on the trans mount. Be advised a 3" extension is too long to get to the fill plug! It was 10:30 last night and I had to make do with the tools I had so I used some pliers to get to the fill plug.

Results:
Shifting is NOTICEABLY SMOOTHER. I can't wait to see how much better it feels on track. I occasionally would have a missed 1-2 shift even when I felt I was pulling it all the way down into second. Also the 4-5 shift was pretty notchy on track in the past.

What's the thread size on the drain plug? If there's a thread size that matches, is there room to replace it with a Fumoto valved drain plug with hose attachment?

I changed mine following the service manual. Used the sensor plug as the drain plug, and masked off the surrounding areas with plastic. No need to remove the trans mount lol. Simple, clean, drain and fill. took ~3.5 qts Amsoil ATF once I removed the excess, shifts much smoother now.

Attached the service manual flush procedure. Again, no need to remove any bracing. Its not messy if you follow the manual and mask off the surrounding areas. I just used 3 zip lock bags and some duct tape.

Changed my Trans fluid to RP Synchromax this past weekend. Just wanted to give a huge thank you to all of you for your great info on this thread, especially the OP. Shifts like butter now!

can someone go into more detail about how you get the fluid level correct? The service manual says you can fill to the level of the fill hole, then remove 8 oz of fluid. How do you remove exactly 8 oz of fluid from inside the transmission?
Or, using the other method, how do you make sure the level is 3.2mm below the level of the fill hole?

get a syringe that measures oz or something that measures 8oz and suck out 8oz. they have 2 stroke oil syringes at walmart
you can also take a wire like a hanger and bend a L into it and mark 1/8" from the bend.
