Should I try SC3 or AR1 on ZLE?

After I kill my next set of SC3R, wondering what folks think. Should I try some SC3 or AR1s in the stock sizes if I want to get better tire life on track? I drive on the street with Contis and have a Leroy Engineering tire trailer on the way to transport a set of Apex wheels for my track tires (stock fitment).

I'm a big proponent of the AR-1s, I love them on my SS 1LE! But I'm running a square setup 315/30/18 and I know some guys don't like running square setup on the Z. My 2 cents, give the AR1s a shot!!!

GRM tested the AR1 against the SC3R and it wasn’t close. I think the regular SC3 is probably about on pace with the AR1, and would last much longer.

The test is here- https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...r-and-pirelli/

1:18.2 for the 3R versus 1:21.5 for the AR1.

I'm interested in your wheel specs, spacer etc for this setup? I'm currently 19x10.5 ET22 305 square and looking to go to 18x11.

Hm, that GRM review of the AR-1 is pretty damning on the 720S. They didn't say much about the longevity of the tires though. I really don't like how quickly the front SC3Rs cord this car. Hoping some alternatives would get me some better value :(

Phils Tire Service or TF-Works for Nankang tires. If you were in SoCal I'd suggest RCompoundUSA. Not sure if they would do shipping.

Apex EC7-Rs, the same specs as your 19s. The Nankangs run kind of skinny so the 315/30/18 is a perfect fit on the 18x10.5s, I was heavily leaning to the 18x11s but it would have required a bigger spacer up front which I didn't really want to do. I run a 12mm spacer with these. For comparison these are almost exactly the same width (+/- 2 or 3mm) as my 305/30/19 Hankook RS4s mounted on 19x10.5 Apex wheels. But they are nearly an inch shorter in diameter.

If you read on they said they got 1:20.0 out of the AR-1 after letting them heat cycle. Regardless of the pure pace of the tire I can say it is a VERY popular choice among lots of guys over here, they are much cheaper than the similar easy to get options, aka Cup2, Trofeo R, Dunlop Dereza, and from what I've been told last much longer than other 100TW tires. I have no doubt it's not as quick as the 3R but I'm damn sure it's quicker than the regular SC3. I would say it's a probably a good middle ground between the two.

I ordered 315/30/18 for the front and 335/30/18 for the rear on my ZLE for my Forgelines. We will see how they perform. I think seanblurr liked them but found 315/30/18 square was squirrelly. Hopefully the stagger with my setup will work a little better.
