SC3R track temp pressure/ temps

So im going to do my first track day with SC3R tires.my question is do I go by the zl1 1le gm specs? Which are cold 26psi and hot 35. I'm assuming during the day I will probably have to take air out snice it will probably pass 35psi.

34-36 hot is the sweet spot for me. I usually start 28-29 psi cold and let a couple of psi out after the first session. You don't want to start too low or you'll roll the tires on the first couple laps.

Anyone use a tire pyrometer to keep temps in check and verify pressures are good? I was going to try the chalk trick.

You have to give the 3Rs 2 laps or so before leaning on them otherwise you will kill them quickly. Start at 26-28 depending upon your taste and aim for 34-35 hot. Anything above 35 is a bit greasy for me. These tires require a bit of restraint before using them appropriately. I know someone who corded a set in (2) 25 min morning sessions leaning on them immediately.

Sounds like cold 28 is the magic number to start off, and 35 is the happy medium to shoot for.

Anyone know what range of temperature goodyear recommends the tire should be at? Trying to see if I can fine tune my psi with pyrometer to maximize the tire patch and life.

FYI, for NASA Time Trials I increased the starting pressure to be ideal for the 2nd flying lap. This meant going out at 30 psi front/rear for the first session and then dropping it to 29 psi for the subsequent sessions. It seemed to work, but my hot pressures were too high after the 4th lap and they rose to 38ish on the cooldown lap.

34 - 36 is the sweet spot. I normally start off at 26, and on two separate events, the tires never got over 30 - 31 ish, and corded the left front tire. Both of these weekends the outside temps never got over 60ish and the track stayed pretty much cold. I had hoped some spirited driving would heat up the tires but they didnt. So my advice is pay attention to outside temps when adjusting cold tire pressures.

i have found that 1) starting at anything below 29 increases wear dramatically during the warm up time (which is not short) - hence i start around 30 and then bleed off, even though in the forst session they get up to 38/39 towards the end 2) do NOT push the car till your tires are "warm" per the in dash menu - the outcome of that will not be good.

I find that the dash board tire temp gauge lags the actual temp by about 1 lap.
