Got hit by a semi, is she totaled?😭

So was on the way to work this morning with my girlfriend and in some slow traffic and I'm next to a big semi truck and he started merging into my lane and wheel just dug into my car and opened like a can opener... The guy didn't even pull over at first cause he didn't even know he hit me. We are both ok, I'm just kinda depressed now without the 1LE. My driver door, rear quarter panel, back left wheel and part of my bumper was all damaged from what I can tell. If anyone knows if this is fixable or they can total it. I'm still waiting to hear back from the auto body shop.

I grew up in a body shop, if that is totaled I be totally shocked... That is probably $10-$12k of damage at most...

Nice 1LE.

Glad to hear that both you guys are okay.

Sorry to see that it suffered some damage. Doesn’t look totaled. Did any airbags go off?

Did it seem like there was any frame damage? That could b the determining factor

I had worse damage on a car and it ended up around 8000$. They won't total it.

Doubt it's getting totaled unless you have a butt load of miles on it.

No, it probably has 15K damage though. If it ends up being repaired, ask for diminished value.

I had the similar thing happened to me but it was actually a Yahama R1 bike with a steel cage that tried to lane split me and didn’t know what he was doing trying to show off. Chevy Body shop charged 7K to fix it. It included new door, fender, side mirror, brackets and a headlight and a few other things...yours maybe around that ballpark if no frame damage which it doesn’t look like it.

Doesn’t look like a total but add a new wheel to the list too! You just have to wait for the claims adjuster to give the repair estimate before the body shop will do anything with the car. Good luck!

Not totalled, but $$. Get the Truck Co to pay your deductible.

OP - I'm with everyone else here - I believe that the damage will not be enough to total the car unless there is more hidden damage than can be seen in your photos. As mentioned push for a diminished value settlement on top of the repair costs from the trucker's insurance company. And the trucker's carrier of course owes you a rental car until the repairs are complete.

With all that said - if it were me I would first do my best to use the trucker's carrier and only as a last resort use my own insurance company's coverage. You have more leverage if you deal directly with the at fault insurance carrier.

Good luck - this sucks and I would be heart broken if it were my car.

Does anyone know what kind of carbon fiber rear diffuser that is? I've never seen one like this.

Hope everyone is OK. Might take some time to get fixed, I would ask the truck's insurance company for a Camaro as a loaner car. I once had a Cadillac rear ended and the guy that hit me his insurance company was gonna put me in a rent a car compact and I told them Cadillac for a Cadillac. Got a SRX for over a month while they fixed $12k in damages. By the way my car was never the same, creaks and places that were fixed started rusting at the seams after several years. Good luck. I would also ask for diminished value.

Who makes that rear diffuser?
