How to go from 12.33 to 10.99 with bolt ons.
I thought I would put together a list of what is needed to go 10's in up to 2K DA in these cars. Also take into consideration that my car was a factory turd. Most cars are going to see better times and mph's than mine did stock and modded.
Below is a slip of my car bone stock and the way it sits now in roughly +1,800 DA. I don't want to argue coulda, shoulda, woulda. I am just going to post what they ran. Stock I was on pump 93. The last passes were made on E70. I have much more tuning to do on my current combo so my modded times will only get better. But for this post, that is just wishful thinking and doesn't matter. My list of mods consists of: PRAY Performance ported stock IM/TB RF CAI w/ dry filter Kooks 2" headers w/ Cats EFI Tuning E85 kit Circle D 4C converter Race Star 17" drag rims front and back MT skinnies up front and 305x28x17 out back PRAY Performance Tune (with a little help from EFI Tuning) Reductions: .....................Stock........Modded.......... Gain/Loss 60ft................1.88.............1.44......... .....-.44 1/8 ET.............8.00...........6.975...........-1.025 1/8 MPH........88.70............99.38..........+10.68 1/4 ET...........12.33............10.99..........-1.340 1/4 MPH.......112.56..........121.65...........+9.09

Running 10s and only trapping 121 is not something you see often |

Is there a consensus on tire height yet for the bolt-on arena? I would say that based on RPM at the top end of the track a short tire would be the better route. Tim |

Car has gone 11.10 and trapped 125+ in better DA on the stock converter. I just posted what it did on that pass. I didn't think it was fair to compare times in different weather. I am still getting this converter dialed in. I did a little more dyno tuning the other day and found some more power. I have to work through the trans pressures and lock up gears and rpm's to see what is going to be best.Who knows what it will run in 0 DA on full E85. I have seen E85 be worth upwards of 10rw on the dyno over E70.

I highly suggest that everyone shift tire size down to a 26" rear if you are not already paid into a set of tires taller than that. Especially with the stock converter. On a converter it is a toss up. The taller tire is going to give you more side wall to wrinkle.

I think I am going to take your advice next time out and try not locking the converter till 4th and then 5th and then not at all. 5th actually wouldn't do much since I am only in 5th for about 100ft. I wonder if I could get this thing to spin to 7K to get through the traps. It seems that locking it in 3rd isn't producing the back half mph I figured it would. I still couldn't get it to lock in 2nd. I was going to take the lock up out but the track was fading hard and there was no point in trying if I couldn't 60ft.

I have no idea brother. I guess it all depends on what rpm you are going through the traps at. I am assuming that with the 3.73 and a 1:1 4th it is probably doing alright with a 28" tire. Maybe not though.

Crazy nice!
What are you running for suspension mods in the rear? 60ft is awesome. |

Thanks. Suspension is completely stock. There is more in it for sure. It appears I have been tuning wrong for the converter. I am going to try again Friday if the track is open and doesn't suck. Hopefully I can drop another couple tenths and get a few mph back. The car has 1.3x 60ft's in it but I need a track that will hold it. I am only leaving at 3K or so. I have foot braked it to 3,300 and 3,500 before but the track wouldn't hold.
