Even though it's an LSA block, the belt drive is LS3 for the whipple and I don't want to buy another ATI damper. Much cheaper to buy a different upper pulley and belt. I only dropped 0.25" from 4.00 to 3.75 and the tensioner was still in the proper operating range, it just didn't hold. Pretty sure shoehorning a shorter belt on there will do the trick.

Any idea what your boost pressure was? I was getting serious slip at 12+psi on a 6-rib Grip-Tec pulley, (the belt smoked more than the tires.....for about 3 seconds! SNAP!!!).

I'm going to pick up the next two smaller sized belts tomorrow and see if I can get the shorter one on first.

Cool, thanks for posting the boost. I'm sitting at about 8.5psi with the 3.875" pulley, same headers and 2.5" exhaust tuned on 91. I was actually expecting to see less than 10psi with the 3.75" pulley and 3" exhaust... so it's good to know what you got, thanks!
If you think about it, it's actually a good thing you had the belt go now, and not when you're out on the road. Now you can get it set up right in the shop, and enjoy!

We'll see what I end up with after I have a belt that isn't slipping but keep in mind that I have ported heads that will reduce boost for the same size pulley.

The whipple LS3 belt drive can do 14 psi on 6 rib belt if set up right. Ted.

If you were at 683 on 93 octane and 8 lbs of boost, I would think the switch to E85 would get you ~ 80 hp and then an additional 15 hp for every 1 lb of boost increase.
So if you are able to squeeze 12 lbs of boost that will add ~ 60 hp plus the ~ 80 hp for the switch to E85 so I am thinking you should be about 823 hp.

Turns out I was way off on the belt adjustment. I was able to get a belt 3/4" shorter on there and getting more tensioner pressure. I may try to see if I can get another step smaller.

The way it comes from Whipple.
Then it is just about choosing the shortest belt you can get on it with the sliding Idler loose. Then push it as close to the T-stat as possible winding the tensioner. Ted.

Quick update, I went back with a tight belt and put down 756 whp which was still a bit less than I was expecting. I felt that it might be the ported stock throttle body holding me back and I was right. Put on a NW 103mm and it put down 796 whp today.
