Right with ya there on this one, retired 9 months ago from the aircraft industry due to COVID. And yea it was an adjustment for sure, but the fact that I didn't have to get up at 4am anymore to go to work and deal with all the big cooperate crap and stress, didn't take me long to appreciate the freedom!!! Rock on my friends!!!

Plenty of personality and a great, broad power band. Don't think you can go wrong with either of the cams you mentioned and I like the idea of keeping the lift modest to prevent excessive valvetrain stress and future maintenance costs. After all, you're on a fixed income.
Ahhh, just had to throw in the "fixed income" didn't you.
Dang young whippersnappers, wadda they know!

I completely agree. I’m still a young-ish whipper snapper. Got a whole lot of life ahead of me still. I can only imagine being old.

The two Your looking at now
Comp: 212/218 .558/.563 115 LSA
Lingenfelter: 218/229 .561/.561 113 LSA

What I have
Nightfury: 233/242 .629"/.629" 113 LSA

Other top competitors
BTR stage 4: 233/250 .630"/.615" 113 LSA
TSP F35: 235/248 .649"/615" 111 LSA
GPI SS4 NFC: 236/252 .646/.637 113 LSA

IMHO I would say the nightfury is aggressive but not thrash the valve train aggressive. That comp cam is tiny, hands down. It doesn’t even compare to any off the shelf cams, i don’t know if it would be worth the swap...
BTR stage 1: 221/228 .613"/.605" 112 LSA
TSP stage 1: 225/236 .629"/615" 114 LSA

I know your looking for useable torque throughout the whole power band, but you don’t need to stay that small to not hurt the valve train. TSP even states that their stage one is a great usable cam down low. I don’t want you to be disappointed when you take her out for the first time and think “this is no different than stock why did I even spend the money to do a cam swap?” No one likes doing things twice and I feel like you should go with the lingenfelter!
That s just it. As a said before....I have gone down both paths (baby cam/big cam). I got more out of the baby than I did the other. Big cam was just too far into the rpm before it real kicked in. Again, all personal preference. I think the young folks should take a drive in a well organized (prob wrong word) small cam build. You might be pleasantly suprised.

So, despite my efforts to stick to my original plans, I find it difficult to avoid the inevitable. It's time to cam
Yes, it must be done. No, I'm not going to be a "what cam should I get," kinda guy......I've already chosen an area I believe will suite my need for speed. I find when I do all the work and listen to myself, I'm seldom disappointed.
So, being the old skool guy I am, I'm sticking with an old skool time proven cam. Comp XR265HR 212/218 .558/.563 115LSA.
It's not about the hp/tq numbers...its about what gives me the juiciest groove under the curve.
So, let's sit back, relax and see how this unfolds.
I hear ya! Recently celebrated my 73rd lap around the big track and my extended warranty just ran out so time to cam. I contacted CAM Motion about what cam would best suit what I'm looking for (a noticeable idle lope, 850 max idle with improved low end & mid-range giddyup with good driving manors) for a retired all-pleasure DD LS3 with LT headers, ported TB, CAI and 3:91rear. Kip suggested a 216/603/224/595/116+4 .What do you think and how would you say that compared to the cam you had in your '06 GTO ?

Disturbing the peace since '66

There is a difference between being old and being retired.

No I’m trying to say the comp is tiny, not small. The lingenfelter ain’t a big cam by no means. I think it’s pretty mild and You should go with it.
