I don't trailer to the track very often but I take them to shows and from one showroom to another. Enclosed Trailers are the safest and most "bad ass" way to transport. However they're heavier and more expensive. If you buy enclosed make sure it's a CAR HAULER trailer so it has the driver-side escape door on the trailer so you can open the drivers door and step out of your car instead of crawling out the window or using a winch. A car hauler trailer can always haul UTVs/ATVs/Snowmobiles/whatever else, but a snowmobile or "toy hauler" doesn't easily haul cars. I don't have a pic right now of my trailer setup but it's pretty nice. I have a toolbox, spare set of tires/wheels (If need be), and a golf cart in the front of mine in addition to the car. I want to say my trailer is 28' to the back of the V.
If you get a bigger enclosed trailer, especially if it's steel and not aluminum, you'll likely want an HD truck. I had a 5.3 1/2 ton GMC and she was complaining the whole way with a Camaro in the back, down shifting etc. 6.2 trucks are a little better. But my Duramax pulls it like it's hardly even there. The brakes, transmission, and suspension of an HD are a huge asset when pulling heavy for more than an hour. A half ton will work for short distances. |

I haven't gotten a trailer yet. Still trying to decide. I have a 2017 F250 Diesel, so any trailer I want is going to work. Using a uhaul trailer later this month to go to the track with it. Probably won't race again till october due to Florida weather, so I got awhile to decide on a trailer.

On the U-Haul, watch the tire sidewalls. If memory is correct, someone posted that they tore up theirs with one, but, not sure if all U-Haul opens are the same.

Uhaul has some older trailers that are narrower than their new ones. I'll believe the silver auto haulers are their new wider ones. I'll swing by there and tape measure stuff to be sure. I wonder if Penske has wider ones?

You need 80+" to fit, my is 84" wide between the trailer fenders and it only 2" per side free room.
Here is what it looked like before tools and extra sets of rime and tires. Last edited by 2SSRS@Gen5diy; 04-18-2018 at 01:26 PM. Reason: added pic of inside |

I drive mine to COTA, about 45 minutes (all highway) from door to door.

Nice trailers indeed!
I have a track not so far from where I live but the best one is around 4h drive and I have to pass through Montreal. Worst place than hell for the road quality. |

I have a 2k wench mounted to the floor under the cabinet in my 28’ enclosed. I pull it in using the tow hook. Once it’s in place I reach in and put it in gear, strap all four corners down using ratchet straps hooked to D rings in the floor. Shut the ramp door and go.
