yes...the ZL1 sensors and ZL1 1LE are the same. Fifth gen sesnors will not work. The ones I listed work and this is confirmed. You do need the reset tool just like the 5th gen. The orange electronics unit works fine.

I'm glad this thread has been re-opened. I'm the OP and I have a story to share...
When my older wheels/tires with the older TMPS sensors in them didn't work, I didn't think it was a big deal. Shortly after I created the post I had three track days all pretty close to one another. The third day was up at Palmer which is about 2 hours from my home. I drove out, spent the night at a hotel and the next morning went on-track. It was raining lightly during the first session so speed were kept down. By the second session it was getting nice out and we started to turn up the wick a bit. About mid-way through the session, my car just felt all kinds of wrong. Without TPMS working I had no idea that I had a flat tire. Luckily, I came around the last corner before the straight and at the last minute I decided to pull off and take a look. Thank goodness I did because by the time I got to the end of the pit wall I was nearly riding on the rim. I've since purchased new TPMS sensors because I was lucky this time and I felt the issue but had the sensors been working, I would have KNOWN there was a problem well before I could feel it. |

Evidently the Orange GM TPS reset tool does not work on 17 and 18 cars.

It works on mine. This sounds silly, but how are you using it? When I first got it I didn’t know, and I thought it was broken.

This thread seems to be the same problem that is why I chimed in. Ted.

I had a 2010 2SS and it didn't need a tool at all. Just dropped the pressure to put it in learn mode. Must have "improved" things with the 5th Gen refresh and later models. For track tires, I just left the TPMS out but that probably wasn't very smart.

sorry, this is incorrect. Mine works fine for the '17 & '18 ZL1. I swap back and forth between stock wheels and road course wheels constantly.

I put my summer tires on a few weekends ago and from that I figured out that the orange TPMS reset tool I have is directional. I have to aim the antenna at the TPMS sensor through the tire sidewall. When I do that, it works great. When I just point it in random directions or hold it close to the tire, it doesn't work. Somehow I made the damn thing work when I put the winter tires/wheels on, but after several tries I finally got it to work and I didn't know what the magic trick was. Now I know. Aim the antenna at the sensor.

The instructions on mine actually tells me I have to hold it against the tire wall at the sensor location.
