Motor oil for trans fluid?

So my brother in law just redid a bunch of stuff in the trans of his neon srt4 and said he read people were using Mobil 1 10w-40 high mileage non synthetic for trans fluid with good results. Does that sound like a bad idea for a tr6060? My trans doesn't shift smooth and I'm not sure whether it's the shifter (POS hurst), synchros or bad 1/2 gears so I'm trying to look for a cheap fix and I see people say change the trans fluid first. Any input?

That's a great way to grenade your transmission. You can't compare completely different transmission fluid requirements. These require ATF style fluid for viscosity reasons.

This sounds almost as bad as the SRT4 owner that cranked the engine without a filter to get all the old oil out...

Is there a video of the pan coming off and changing the filter too? Basically showing the whole process?
