18’ Camaro V6 1LT A8 Convertible vs 18’ Stang EB A10 Premium Vert Review

I recently rented a 2018 ecoboost auto convertible premium mustang and 2018 V6 convertible A8 1LT Camaro. I will compare the premium interior to my prior 16’ 2SS interior as it wouldn’t be fair to compare it to the 1LT.
I initially was only renting the camaro but returned it due to surprising electrical issues with only 2k miles on it and was provided an 18' stang in its place. I had both for two days each, long enough to form an opinion.
All of the below are subjective of course and my unbiased opinion.

Exterior:

Both look very good. The stang looks better from certain angles and the camaro looks better from certain angles.

Interior:

Mustang premium is nicer than the 2SS, especially the seats and instrument cluster. The heated seats in the stang actually get hot and cover a larger area. The leather is softer and the seats are cushier. The changeable tach/speedo per drive mode is a step ahead. Stang missing the HUD. The camaro adjustable climate control via the circular vents are more convenient to use. Stang premium stereo sounds better than the 2SS Bose.
Note: The 1SS stereo sounds better than the stang base stereo. The 1SS seats are more comfortable the stang base cloth seats.
The premium is worth the extra money but the 2SS isn’t over the 1SS imo.

Visibility:

Mustang is a lot better with the top up but about the same with the tops down. Stang better frontal visibility with the larger windshield and lower dash. Visibility not an issue overall for the camaro with the top down.

Performance:

Neither are fast (compared to the LT1 and 392). The ecoboost felt quicker around town in all gears at part to mid throttle. The Stang actually chirped 2nd gear in drag race mode. Ecoboost at WOT after 2nd gear just made noise without much acceleration feel. Overall the Camaro V6 felt quicker to me (especially at highway speeds) and sounded WAY better imo. The A10 felt a bit jerky at times and the turbo wasn’t always smooth feeling under load. The ecoboost only sounded cool when the turbo was spooling, after that nothing special. Sounds were annoyingly pumped into the interior and almost old school boxer WRX sounding (not a fan). The Camaro V6 was silky smooth and more fun and satisfying to rev through the gears.
The A10 shifts were very fast at WOT and great at keeping the motor in its power band.
The paddles were annoyingly slow to respond when manually shifting for the A10 and A8, nowhere close to my ScatPack A8’s almost immediate paddle response.

Final thoughts:

The camaro was overall more fun with a sportier feel, sharper steering, higher grip limits and more responsive braking. Similar experience to the 370Z auto. The V6 sounded way better (one of the best I’ve heard), was smoother and more powerful than the ecoboost. The A10 was the more impressive transmission but the A8 worked just fine with the V6. The Camaro is more enthusiast oriented.
The mustang felt much more like a cruiser (similar to my ScatPack) than a sports car like the camaro.
With the top down I wasn't missing the LT1 power for some reason to be honest. I would definitely consider a used convertible Camaro down the road as a 3rd weekend fun car for the summer.
I didn’t want to return the camaro but it felt easy returning the stang.

Renting a car before buying is the best as you can really see what the car is all about without flogging a brand new car. A test drive around the block with a car salesman telling you where and how to drive is almost worthless.

V6 Camaro FTW IMO
