M6 Tranny fluid change?

So looking to go Synth on my Tranny fluid. Has anyone done this already? The drain plug is directly over the rear transmission crossmember and I'm thinking is the ATF Bath/mess even worth it.

It's very simple to do, but I highly recommend a small hand pump. It's not messy unless you mess it up but I went to redline syn d4 fluid and have noticed smoother shifting and much lower temps.

I thought that the trans and rear diff shared fluid because of the shared cooler....

If so, would that require very specific fluid?

I was going to go with Redline D4 ATF and still would if I could find it locally but I had already bought 5 quarts (not that I need the 5th one but better to have extra and not need it). of Mobil 1 Synth ATF Dexron III, etc etc..

I found another place to drain it. About as low as the drain plug is the Tranny temp sensor. Just unlplug the connector and remove and out comes the old..

Different fluids. Check out your manual. M6 V8 takes MTF. M6 V6 or I4 takes dexron VI ATF. Axles use gear oil.
