Brief Road Trip

I have had my ZE for a year now. What a great car. With a break in the weather I took a 500 mile road trip from Georgia to North Carolina to visit my dad. Insane amount of horsepower, super comfortable seats, great tunes (so so stereo, but hey, it's a track car) and an overall average of 21 mpg with the cruise set to 80 the whole way. Quite a few thumbs up, a few cameras out windows videoing the ZE, nice comments at the gas pump from a cop who owns a 392 Challenger. He even warned me about radar being run up the road. Without a doubt the best car I have ever owned. Great time to be car guy!

Im interested in the ride quality in a long trip. I just ordered a 19 ZL1 and did not get the E package due to the harsh ride (from what i heard, ive never driven one) and it being tough to daily drive. What was your experience on a long trip?

I dig it! I don't remember ever getting this much attention from a vehicle. Let alone a GM.

My wife's daily costs more than twice the ZE, but gets less than half the love.

Going to be down to the individual and their environment, habits, and road conditions. I don't think it's as bad as others, but it's not my daily and I'm not trying to compare it to our other vehicles' smoother rides...just like I don't compare our other vehicles' track prowess (or lack thereof) to the ZE's.

Sounds fun! Looking forward to many road trips in my ZL1. But did ya have to rub it in?? It’s still winter up here with snow and salt on the ground!!

Have been very impressed with the ZL1 on longer drives. Quiet and comfortable at 80 mph. Seats are very comfy. Amazing car that can perform on the drag strip, circuit and the road.

It is pretty subjective. I like a firm ride, the pot holes and construction areas on the road are harsh, but on a smooth highway it is not an issue for me. The thrill of the car outweighs anything else.

I drove mine home from Hendrick in Duluth, GA back down to Tampa, FL.

Pretty much the same experience. Lots of looks, especially because there weren't any on the road at the time.

Loved it. He was a Chevrolet dealer for 40 years, retired in 1982. 650 horsepower did not seem possible to him. He said several times that 400 horsepower always drew a crowd and he never thought he would see those days again.
