Ported heads vs aftermarket

Currently I'm cammed using the gpi ss4 nfc cam in a l99.. looking into heads

Stuck between porting stock heads, prc 260s or brodix bp br heads

Going to go 416 maybe next year and end up going centri

I hear a lot about ported and prc. But being on a little budget is killing me. I also see brodix is priced good but dont see many ppl using them

Any experience or info is appreciated

I had PRC port and mill my stock ones. Seems to have worked well.

I am using GMPP cnc heads. I had them milled as well. Working pretty good for me. I got a killer deal on them new.

If you are going FI I would save your money and put it elsewhere. Maybe it makes a bigger difference on a 416 but with FI the stock heads flow plenty well, cheaper to drop a pulley size if you want extra flow. What are your power goals? If its reasonable you will get there with the stock heads.

If you are ultimately going FI, stick with the stock heads unless you are going to do a max effort money be damned set-up. Look at many of the FI builds 1000hp is achievable on stock heads and intake. You don't even have to go to a 416. Success depends on a well thought out combo. Put the money you would spend on heads into forged pistons and rods. Or, as at least three of us on this board are going with - iron LY6 forged setups for FI and people have taken these into the 8's on the track. Don't sweat the 100lb weight penalty for iron unless you are road racing.

If you are set on heads, great advice here. I have a set of GPI's heads and they are a work of art. These guys are top notch!

Whats the biggest difference in the car when you added the heads? Sending my car up soon for porting milling and flycutting

I'm going 416 because I really don't know how long itll b before I go fi. I know I will eventually but the boost community in my area is STRONG.. so I wanna take advantage of the na class while u can

I would suggest Advanced Induction for porting/polishing your heads. They have a great 280cc package that usually does 25-30rwhp for us consistently. That is pretty much the only place I use for headwork on any LS.
