Hello guys, i need to know if someone put headers without cats and change pulley in his ZL1 without tune the car...…
i have LT headers with no cats and i want to install them…. the pulley can wait but i need to know if the stock tune can work with that mod. and for last if is a 100% sure the we need to unlock the TCM to make this car tune correctly or if i can get inly the ECM tune without unlock the TCM. thanks for the help. |

You need a tune. You are leaving HP on the table absent a tune. You also risk a lean condition which will cause significant engine damage. Now 25 people can come in and post how they ran LTs without a tune and nothing happened. Irrelevant, the risk of running dangerously lean is real and LTs without a tune loses much of the potential HP gain.

Definitely need a tune if your doing a cat delete. It will throw O2 sensor codes.

Need an ECM tune for sure. You do not need a TCM tune at this point.

Yep, catless headers will need a tune no matter what, no if's and's or butt's about that.
Question is if you are going to putt headers and a pulley why wouldnt you want to tune it? The pulley wont do a thing other than bring into boost sooner, if you dont tune the car to change when the ECM open or closes the bypass valve all it is going to do is hit max boost sooner in the RPM range and then the ECM is going to open the bypass valve and bleed off the excess boost that the pulley gains you. If you ware going down the mod route then set aside $1500 and get a proper ECM and TCM tune. It will make a night and day difference in the car.
