Weight in the trunk

Has anyone played around with adding weight in the trunk for better traction? If so how much?

When I first installed the whipple i put a 60lb sandbag in the trunk to help with traction and weight transfer. If you can hook without it you will be faster but if you are not hooking give it a try.

Never ad weight to the car. Your just slowing your self down. Increase traction with tires and suspension. Not weight.

IF you were looking to add weight to the rear, I'd start by having the fuel tank full rather than showing up to the track at 1/4 full. Either way, adding weight doesn't sound like the right solution

What are some other options? Everyone always says suspension but I can't find anything specific... Used to a 4 link would help but the axel twist isn't bad in our cars to begin with.

First thing is are you on a tire?

Also do you have mag ride where you can launch in Touring mode for weight transfer?

Fill up the tank.. plenty of weight.. 17 gal x 6.5 lbs = 110 lbs.

I know some crazy fast street car guys that add hundreds of lbs to their car in the back. I think weight at the rear bumper will do more for you than weight where the gas tank is.

I have never tried it but i am thinking about it.
