Any suggestions on where to order a replacement mirror? And do they come pre painted in factory colors?

I recently changed mine, bought from a salvage yard for around $200. You have to be careful with the colors, when I bought it the color was stated as Black but I received Mosaic Black. I was able to solve my problem by switching the outer housing.

Buying new is probably not worth if you're trying to save money

So the outer housing can come apart and be reused? I see a seam around the housing but how does it come apart? That'd save me having to have it painted.

To be honest, I had my brother take it apart as I trust him more with these things. Though I do have this photo of the disassembled mirror (passenger side)

You can take apart the mirror assembly (my post above yours shows my old mirror disassembled). The mirror fits onto the motor so you can buy new glass and replace it

No just push the mirror as far to one side as you can and use a panel tool to pop the mirror off. Its just a ball and socket assembly.

Do these also have the safety features like the lane warning sensors?

I recently swapped out my mirrors for black ones. I ordered them from a seller on eBay and they were clearly OEM parts. Despite them being listed for 19-20, the mirrors fit my 2016. I paid about $250 shipped for the pair and am very happy with the way they look.

Some quick tips:
- You are probably going to drop a nut deep into the door. Have a long, thin magnetic grabber ready to fish the nut out. I already had one in my toolbox but you can find them at any hardware store pretty easily.

- I used butyl rubber rope to reseal the two vapor barriers you need to take off to access the nuts. This worked great and seemed to actually provide better adhesion than stock.

- I broke one of the locating pins on each door. Didn't seem to cause any issues, but I made sure to put some felt tape on what was left of the pin to prevent it from hitting the bare metal.

- I found reinstalling the door cards to be much easier than disassembly. The key is to get the top clips snapped in while aligning the rest of the clips.

Restructuring this thread - a question- do you guys know if the non auto dimming will fit just fine on the ZL1? I don’t care about dimmer and the price difference is about $200…
